Note that he didn't change the damage of homing salvo, which was the big driver of people researching it in 2.28. However, now homing salvo will be a bit more risky since it gives the enemy team more time to research something else/better.
Lack of targets makes commanding a cluster-fuck, and results in the most stupidly easy strategies since the release of Empires.
The one thing I do miss is the knowledge provided by comm targets. Before I jumped out of the CV, I would do a quick comm target sweep to make sure there weren't many enemies in the area. Now, I'm paranoid that whenever I jump out to build something, I'll get mowed down.
Lack of targets means my indrect fire weapon is useless unless I peak out for a sec and that means 1 nf 50 cal will kill me instantly.. Cameras don't have the range so I'm stuck giving targets as a squad leader. I say leave targets in till we get those posts things that chris suggested. Something that has more range than a camera. Mootant's says I was bitching but I constantly had top score every game I played It's not like I am unable to play good, I just can't use the weapons correctly anymore.
Who says I get killed ALL the time? I do get revived(more than ever). But my point is if you want the mowtar to be an indirect weapon or to use the rpg with out getting sniped you need to have a target so you can see or guide while behind cover.. But now targets are gone and scouts and riflemen can kill you almost instantly.. Cam's die so fast and have horrible range on maps you need them most.. Re add targets until we get listening posts.
for making sure that things get done. for making sure that emp_recruit knows what to kill and where to aim at to make sure whatever base or point is secure.
what? anyhow, commander can still see where people are by dragging + a. as far as mortars go, they are now more of an anti emplacement device than anything. They kill walls fairly quickly, and are as powerful as ever against turrets. It's the best anti engineer weapon we have.
Targets are for the commander. They were implemented poorly, but they got the job done. If you never command frequently, then you have no right to bitch about 'wallhax'
I am still getting top scores with a nerfed to shit ass class with out "wall hacks" dumbee emptyhead. I am just saying indirect fire was capable because of targets. Arty feedback sure as hell isn't going to help you hit people or guide the RPG towards tanks while being out of a snipers scope. The only reason it works now is because of the damage plug-in viper has which isn't even official. I am pointing out a broken gameplay mechanic not complaining.
