There's one thing I don't understand about the canyon rain particles. Both in Pickled and Empty's versions the particle count rises as long as it hits the 1000 particles limit. Just 4 particles under the allowed maximum.
I don't know why but the maximum particle count for any effect is boosted up by at least four. You can never have less than 8 particle "spaces", and if the limit is 1000 it will go up to 1004 I believe it's something to do with how it's computed.
They should work fine if you reinstall them. If the error spam persists, I'll have to review them and release a new version.
I had an odd problem with particles in general kicking up errors if I modify them, even if I keep the right names for everything. Haven't a clue why, and it's only with some particles, might be related to his issue. Only thing that seems to fix it is installing the default particles again.
Actually I noticed some particle error messages last night too, if I play later I will copy and paste or screen shot em.
I don't get error messages but then I don't get any messages other than TOO MANY POPUPS! RENDERING WILL BE BAD! I get actual error sprites.
The popups message appears from too many windows open, like options, console and whatever. You can use the same thing to get rid of the "too many vertex, whole world not rendered" etc
Oh god these particles are fucking awesome. Thanks, pickled. I finally got to installing it and I don't suffer from 2-5 fps in a tank battle and my computer overheats less.
I've said half a dozen times that I have this issue. I also said I wouldn't do anything about it until it was officially changed. That's just a personal preference, i'm not really condemning these particles, just would rather some official ones were in place so I don't have to be thinking whether I have an edge or not. Well, that and I get 9fps low, not 2-5fps.
Does it look like I care about your stupid fracas with Empty? No. Don't make me a part of that shite.
/slap It's been asked, it's 5 years old, and the CPU architecture is most likely the limiting factor, followed by ram. The graphics card is fairly new in comparison.
Well your shit out of luck buddy, Empires is the new age.. Get with the program pal, the source engine is the future of gaming.
