Okay empty, you win. I present to the community my custom 2.25 particle package. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9D1Z2H1G This is a modification to the default particles that focuses on optimization of framerate and visibility. If you are happy with the new particles and think they look cool, this is not for you. If you've been having framerate issues or hate how you can't see shit when nukes or artillery are going off, then look no further. Notes: Make sure to make a backup of the default particles. Just unzip this into the particles directory in empires (after you've made your backups) and everything should work normally. You will get some errors at map change and this is normal but if you see anything during gameplay let me know and I will release a new pack. This package is unfinished. The nuke and a few other effects could still use some downsizing but we're getting closer.
and now they all come and i got to download the same ... fucking great job, fuck you, really go somewhere and fuck you all you bloody cheaters it so pathetic ... and the worst is that server owners (or their monkeys) are involved in all that shit. ich kann nicht so viel fressen wie ich kotzen könnt ...
Neither. If you like the new particles, don't try it. If you don't like the new particles, try it. That's all I'll add. At least I provided them as soon as they were complete. I could have kept them for a few months to myself.
never, all i ever used was nesquickos gui. but i happily would not use it to get pure servers ... but all atempts i started to get that failed because of some constantly sabotaging me. and those are mainly server owners or those who run them ... all i ever got told the last few years was, wait till blahblahblah ... i even wrote a whitelist to exclude the gui because its always used as really lame excuse. and then suddently it was a huge fucking problem that the server would need a bit longer (like a minute or smthg) to restart. i got told its not possible to get pure 1 unless steamworks, so next version, but it should be possible to run pure 2, which generates hashes for the files on servers and makes sure that everyone plays with the same client files (thats why servers would need ot restart a tad slower)
Flasche uses completely stock emp because he thinks people are cheaters. Also, thanks. I have no framerate issues but I hate the giant smoke screens.
@pickled yeh well, maybe i was to offensive - i want to excuse myself for implying that your intention behind creating those particles were to gain an advantage. but i urge you to realize that this, since you said they would be less obstructive, is the case and that they will be used in such a manner. so may i ask you to alter them in a way that they provide only as much as an advantage as it is necessary to still provide decent framerates.
I can do code that will use "particle" when cheap particles is off and "particle_cheap" when it's on. We need cheap particle replacements (cheap as in FPS and not easier to see through).
Tssk tssk Trickster. Don't even. I don't see the problem with default Empires (rollbar'd jeeps and barbed wired walls). They're dumb things, but they're part of the game. I mean, I could just go and play css and have people like trickster with his see-through wall textures and stuff, but what makes Empires in-part a good source game is everyone is on the same playing field. There are by far enough variables in the game itself to give you an edge. Although I am glad you apologised flasche.
oh my view of this and other hacks sticks ... i just realized that its unfair to imply that pickled did this out of bad intentions ...
