1.06 Released

Version 1.06 has been released. Both players and servers need to update. The main goal with this update is to introduce three new maps: MValley by R_Yell, Slaughtered by Hellion, and Gauntlet by Doobie. The first two mentioned maps were created by the community. Doobie has also updated Escort adding several new paths to take and other modifications. In addition to the new maps, I've fixed many bugs. Any previously mentioned features that were planned for 1.06 have not been completed yet and are being pushed back to a later release. We did not want to keep the community waiting while we had new maps and bug fixes to release.

Edit: Have begun seeding at Gameupdates.org (torrent).

 

It grows with each release since it includes all changes from 1.01 to 1.06. That way people only have to download 1.0 and 1.06 and not have to download each patch.

Sweet, 1.06! I was at a movie, shame that I wasn't a part of the release party! (The first game played in 1.06 :D)

 

Krenzo: to make things simpler for players new and old alike, you may want to abandon the 1.0 download entirely and include a full version 1.06 and a 1.05 to 1.06 patch. Only people who would be screwed over (far as I can tell) are those who only play so rarely that they completely miss a version (e.g., go from 1.04 to 1.06).

This will become even more important with time, as the 1.0 to 1.06 update download grows larger. By 1.1 the update may be as large as the initial installer!

I noticed this 3.00am last night, but there were no links. Thanks to everyone for mirroring and providing the torret service. Now I just hope that the servers will update soon.

edit: Whee! At least Esports.no and Stormed servers have updates. :p I'm loving it. Just 40 more minutes with the file...

 

It would be nice to have 2 files/versions: full installer (1.06 - more or less 500MB) and patch from last version to new one (1.05 -> 1.06 - 100 MB).

 

Ooh, looks like I'm a little late. Might even get to play it today though. Looking forward to trying the new maps with actual players.

I was just wondering if Empires 1.06 had arrived yet, and behold, it has come! Really great news, despite the lack of updated weapons and ironsights.

 

hmm, once again no player names in spec mode...

 

I don't recall seeing it in the changelog, do you?

 

Thats what i mean, its unfortunately not part of 1.06.
