Can someone tell me how to put the old sounds back so the server sounds do not override them with the new sounds?

    - Download this archive.
    - Open it using 7Zip, or PeaZip or whatever supports compressed tarballs.
    - Create a new directory called "custom" in "steamapps/common/Empires/empires/".
    - Extract the downloaded archive to the newly created directory at "steamapps/common/Empires/empires/custom/".
    - The file path should now become "steamapps/common/Empires/empires/custom/2.10 - Sounds/".
    - Delete the file named "sound.cache" at "steamapps/common/Empires/empires/sound/sound.cache".

Once you've done this, feel free to delete any of the sounds in the newly created directory that you don't want to keep. Using this method, the extracted sounds won't be overwritten by updates and they will simply override the stock sounds.

Thanks! thecreeper and thank everyone who answered me on steam. I'm sure dt worked hard on his sounds but I prefer the old ones at this point, and its not about not liking change as I was accused of previously its about change for the better and for me it wasn't.

Except it's only the sound files, some of the new sounds must use new files or something because with the old sound files you still get some of the new sounds. If that makes any sense.

@Kidpaler, @Tama You need to make a beta branch containing the old sounds for those of us that hate the new ones. One that includes all the proper files AND the correct route/names for all the sounds.

Actually forget it, I am hereby demanding the rollback to the old sounds. The new ones are shit and unpolished and should never have made it out of beta.

Some sounds, like the dedicated bio cannon sounds, are indeed new. Removing them completely requires a little tampering with file paths and/or scripts.

Bio sound is for a new weapon so it's fine.

So basically only the new weapons have the new sounds. I didn't notice but I haven't played much but when I did it was okay and was soo good for my ears not to be assaulted.

I just dumped the old sounds into "steamapps\{MYNAME}\empires\empires\sound" so they are used instead of any packed ones.
Funny that empires still uses my user folder instead of common folder

no idea, how should I have lost it?
I still have outdated versions of other HL2 mods in there, everything else is in common folder.
Just steampires folder never changed to common for me

I'm guessing a lot of these are property of Valve. Shit. Thanks for posting though.

Hey, at least all the voices and weapons aren't. Ambient is likely valve.
