Okay as title. I think we've discussed enough and it's time to close the book. 1: For once, you do NOT need to provide reasons for your vote. Because I already know pretty much why you'd want to/not remove sniper rifle. The reasons I heard pretty much all make sense, also I am neutral. 2: For once, all votes are equal. 3: For once, we will actually do things according to the polling result. 4: At least 25 total votes AND at least 22 yes/no votes are required for this polling to be valid. This won't be anonymous, in case there are alts. This thread is NOT about reworking sniper rifle and/or giving it to another class, please do not suggest things and derail this thread. If you feel the existence of the weapon hurts the gameplay fundamentally, vote yes. If you support a rework and/or you don't think this weapon is bad for Empires, vote no. I will rework sniper rifle if we decide to NOT remove it. Don't remove it =/= Don't touch it.
Are the noob scouts the reason people want the sniper rifle removed? I believe it is not the right course of action, tho it may work. Removing sniper gives them a reason less to play as scout right? Of course, the right thing to do however, is to somehow make them not play as scout when they must not, for removing it, is not fair for the other players. Reworking the sniper may draw even more attention on the scout so we my see more of them. Personally I think it's better to keep the noobs out of this discussion because it's jut a different problem. In my opinion, the sniper should be in this game, it's an important addition to the arsenal.
The vote is about whether the sniper has a place in this game, not if it should be removed because noobs go scout just to play with the sniper. That's another issue. I mean I don't think it's the right reason to vote against it. Restricting classes or weapons thus reworked class system would solve this. If noobs find no sniper, they will play as riflemen, it makes little difference. I hope you see my point.
They have to get closer as rifleman. They also lose hide, so it's a tad less annoying to shoot them back. Also class or weapon of restriction of any sort is quite a bit of time to make work, removing sniper take about 3 seconds. I don't think it's worth spending a lot of time with restrictions like that, which I also disagree with, when it's really just for the sniper. That could be time better spent on other things, like squad arty hitting a point binocs mark. You know, things you'd want the scout class to actually do or something.
Before you, this was already one of the "reasons to NOT remove sniper" for me. So yes, certainly I see the point. I see points to not remove sniper and I see points to remove sniper, there's quite a few valid reasons to do one of them. It's why I had to create this thread. It's kind of an option for me. First, I am actually neutral. Second, I don't want people to see the result before they vote. But I want to personally monitor the result, so I created an option for me to vote. I editted rule 4 a little bit : 25 total votes => 25 total votes AND at least 22 yes/no votes.
It kinda does, it's just half the users don't play empires anymore so of course they don't really care about polls like this. It isn't just the game that could use more players, this forum feels like a ghost town.

I moved the Scout rifle to Rifleman. I don't know why it got put back on Scout. It was fine on Rifleman. No inexperienced players using Hide and doing nothing from miles away, instead it encouraged much more aggressive use. Like idk why people are so hung up about it, just move it to rifleman and watch the results.
