Pre existing bug (was in previous release) which overrides setting selected by user. 1. In the options->multiplayer menu untick the use metric units check box. 2. When playing a game the speedo will readout in MPH. (This will persist until the game is exited (will work when disconnecting and reconnecting servers, havnt checked map changes but i assume that will be the same) 3. Exit and restart game. 4. Join a server-speedo now has speed in MPH. Whilst it wasnt fixed for 2.4 I decided to repost it as the mortar bug was fixed. The fact that it resets only when reloading the game would suggest that it shouldnt be a complex fix. Jephir-I found a bug today that I wont post on forums (you will understand when I explain). I will contact you on steam tomorrow (if you see me first then please get in touch.)
Are you sure that your config or something like that is not write protected? Do the other checkboxes in that page work? The underlying functionality is from the sourcesdk and was never touched by us. So it should just work.
I can confirm this. It's been like this since the metric/imperial option was available. I don't know how many people care about imperial units, but given the scripts are done in imperial for speeds, it's useful for me at least when I'm editing them. This sounds like a dodgy exploit that people shouldn't know because they'd exploit the fuck out of it. I must know. For reasons.

One simple workaround is to add the console command for it into the autoexec.cfg (I can't remember what it is, will update the post later)
Checked that and my configs arent write protected, cant see any mention of anything like that in any of the files, unless its contained in settings.scr and default settings.scr?
