    ok now for some reason whenever i try to join a server it says, "this server requires that you be running steam" And when i try to go to the server list it says, "You must be running steam to use findservers"

    Your Steam ticket probably got invalid. Happens sometimes, it's a Steam issue. Just restart Steam and it should be fine again :)

    rename your client.blob file to clientblob.bkp (close steam first)

    clear out your download folders (sometimes cache files get buggered up half downloaded, etc)

    restart steam

    test.

    the thing with me is this when i try to load empires everything looks fine then a box comes up saying that the gameinfo.txt is not a valid format

    Whenever I launch Empires, it goes to the first loading screen, but when the menu should pop up (to join servers, etc.), the game crashes to desktop with no error messages. I have Source SDK Base installed, and I can run all other HL2 games fine. I have already tried redownloading/installing.

    Do you have crashdump (.mdmp) files in the Steamapps\(USERNAME)\source sdk base 2007 folder?

    Yeah I found the crashdump file that's created whenever it crashes, do you need it? Where should I upload it?

    This probally isn't the place to post this, but whenever I try to play (i.e. make a server or connect to one) the game crashes and a pop-up with "Can't allocate any server IP ports."

    Help?
