Well, it turns out my wifi adapter was on the verge of death (stopped picking up the signal at 2-3 signal "points"), I updated the drivers, and now things work more or less okay. I have yet to try Empires, but everything else (MW3, youtube) works properly once again. Try updating the driver?
@Viroman: I'll give it a try... would wonder me though how it is freezing my empires because I had the same program last time and it worked fine. @D.D.D.Destroyer: No because I already did. @MacGyver: me? pls i beg u, i rage at nubs not at gentlmen.
There was something about excluding one tiny file from realtime antivirus checks (I mean that thing that constantly checks your reads/writes) for tf2, but that was 2 years ago and is fixed now. I had stuttering like hell before I excluded that file, but I can't remember the file-name and my AV-Solution has changed since then. Try disabling your AV before you play and see if anything changes.
I give up, not even the antivirus is making my game crash. God do I love it when my favorite games just stop being fluid after I change my computer. Has there really never been a problem where someone gets random 3-4 second freezes?
i only get that when i alt tab in and out, it must be something running in the background. list all the services and processes that you're running
Well you could run a process monitor and have it watch both CPU and IO use for all processes(probably take up 2-10% of your CPU but hey, it works)... when you get your lag spike, switch to the log and check it out.
if its wireless search how you disable wireless zero/wireless auto configuration service on your windows version. it checks for hotspots each minute and thats what gives you this bad lag-spikes. use your adapters tools to connect instead ...
or use trickster instead of google :D edit: i just thought no answer to this would mean its not wifi ... ... i just couldnt recall the name at that point. at 1030am it might aswell have been from the phone in public transportation
Sorry for posting into a old thread but i found the freeze reason. It says this in console everytime I freeze: Code: *** Tried to load a non-VTF file as a VTF file! Error reading texture header "materials/temp/2bf91d35.vtf Any idea?
Did you navigate to that folder and see if there's a file there? If so, try removing it, see if that helps. That's actually the folder where sprays are stored.
Never and SSD, bitch. I will win this fight my way. Empires cant kill me. Also can I delete my temp folder? Like the data inside.
