This new skill would allow the engineer class to see the health of any building from a distance, with any weapon drawn. The health would be displayed in a similar way to if they were using the engineer tool up-close, but the bar would be moved out of the way to the bottom of the screen. The distance would be limited, to prevent spotting across maps or through fog, but it would be much much larger than the current engineer tool range. Benefits: - No need to switch to engineer tool/get up close to check for damage. - Can be used to inform comrades which enemy buildings have low health, in a similar way to armor detection. Drawbacks: - May be distracting during normal play. - The engineer has lots of class-specific skills already.
Leave it as an engineer, that way at home base the engineer can quickly "Scim" over the base without bothering the commander, repairing anything thats even slightly damanged (Thats not smoking)
I don't think it should be a skill, I think it should be Engineer's innate ability! If you do want to give them an extra skill, make that skill reveal enemy buildings' health from a distance. Not sure as to the usefulness of this skill though. I mean who'd want to waste a valuable skill slot just to be able to ninja enemy buildings more efficiently.
i agree with Shinzon here, but perhaps a slight deviation. engineer can see the health of any friendly buildings simply by pointing at them, and the grenadier can get a skill to allow him to see enemy building health
Have to agree with Chahk. This sound similar to the suggestion I made, which would be an ability the engineer always has. Just not usefull enough to serve as a skill. If it would show enemy's building health, like chahk suggested, it would be the little brother of the armor detection skill. But then again, the engineer has no longe range weapons to attack a building from a distance he can't see it, the grenadier has, and knowing where to hit a tank and how much hits its still going to take to kill the tank, is much more important compared to knowing the health of buildings. Maybe this could be combined with scout painting targets? Where the painted target will reveal its health to engineers.
Maybe it should be something to be unlocked as an extra with Repair upgrade, to see buildings health and name from afar, and the same with players if the engineer picks the healing upgrade; showing him the player's health from a distance.
Wouldn't that give the engineer an advantage in combat? He could take out the enemy starting with the one lowest on health, working his way up to kill many quickly.
The healing upgrade would only show his teammates' health, the rapair upgrade only the building's health.
that is SO DAMN GOOD. so if i get this straight: healing upgrade allows you to see your team mates health from far away, and repair upgrade allows you to see everything else's health from far away (that is on your team). that sounds like quite a big buff to the repair upgrade one... perhaps deviding it into improved healing and surveying would be better after all... considering that everyone picks the repair upgrade anyway (so it doesn't need to be improved further).
No? Grenadiers are supposed to detect armor on vehicles, why should they start doing it on buildings?
The original suggestion was to see what health both your own and enemy buildings have. Some people want to split that idea, into seeing your own for engi and seeing enemy for gren.
Sounds like a good new skill- I don't see reason why it should be put with repair upgrade because repair upgrade is good enough.
Umm...isn't part of the scouts job to scout the enemy base? Wouldn't this be scouting the enemy base?
