What communities? Cause I am sure any sort of competitive community has toxicity in it. May not be present on the forums, but from my experience any game where there is the objective to beat someone else, someone is toxic to someone else.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure we have all had THOSE coms who refuse to communicate. They don't deserve to be in the com vehicle because communication is the most essential part of that position. If you can't meet the basic requirements for a spot, don't play it.

What does professional developers have to do with the community?

And again, you are twisting what I am saying to fit your narrative. Did I say "GO OUT AND INSULT EVERYONE YOU CAN!"? No. I did not. I said that when there are idiots who refuse to communicate, refuse to listen and refuse to do the position that they are in then toxicity develops. As I have said, and I am sure many would atest to this around 10pm-12am central time, I am extremely helpful. I teach people how to com, I teach them counters, I teach them in a very civil way.

But, since the community is moving this way, I now move to take out "You have been defeated" with "At least we all had fun" to make sure no one's precious little feelings are hurt.

So you want me to link you to those communities? I do not remember the names but I found two of them when I played DoD:S for a short time.

I'm not debating whether they should or shouldn't be in the commander vehicle as we have previously clarified that. Point is, cursing is pointless.

It means they have plans, community managers, money, marketing and much more. It is pretty obvious that they are not comparable. Synergy however is a pretty good example of how things should be. Eternal Silence had a good community as far as I remember but the developers took the wrong path back then.

You twisted my reply into being about replacing Empires guns with flowers. If you twist my posts, why can't I twist yours?

I personally know several players mostly vets that left because they could not stand how toxic this community is. So DT you are wrong. Also cristizing or correcting is not being toxic if its done the right way.
You need to understand what toxic means in reference to this communtiy. There have been and are people in this community that rip into people on a personal level, try to discredit them as people, try to humiliate them in game because of poor skills or just because they don't agree with how something was done..this is no way to treat someone ever.. I don't care how competitive this game is, there is never ever a reason to do such things.

I have had a few servers for several years before having viper empires and I have never encountered such toxic behavior from players on my servers that I have from this community.

Also fun fact: In both CS:GO and Dota 2, they have report tools that are there for people to report people who are toxic.

    Herp derp.

    how is that an argument?
we have most of the time admins on servers, which can ban players for various amounts of time

It's a reply to DT about how Dota 2 and CS are toxic communities and that we should be more like them by accepting toxicity.

I twisted what you said into an OBVIOUSLY sarcastic phrase, in fact I think I even said I am being sarcastic. You twisted something into a serious position, big difference between the two.

And I have lead numerous communities/been admins on numerous servers in my time. Toxicity comes with competitiveness. Hell, my biggest minecraft server that I was head admin on had 100 max slots with around 40 people on always. We would hold tournaments in exquisitely made arena's where people could get teams and compete against each other. What happened? LOTS of raging, LOTS of hate, LOTS of people being toxic. Did we ban them? No, because they were vets and we figured we'd rather keep our vets who would stay no matter what stupid thing we did rather than opt for banning them to possibly get some noobs to stay. Needless to say, this community was generally nice much like Empires, but got toxic at times.

There is reason to do such things Vicki, I know you don't play often but for the people who do it is quite aggravating to get stuck on a team who has a com who won't listen, doesn't know anything, and who is as useful as a pile of bricks, except at least the brinks would sink the team faster than the idiot in the com vehicle. This warrants toxicity to A. Get his attention and B. make sure he doesn't com again until he knows some of the basics. What the hell happened to promoting people going on the practice server and shit to learn how to com? What happened to that?

Also Vicki, I have been here for a VERY long time. Raging and toxicity I would wager was even worse 5 years ago, and before that it was even worse. On Epic(Or was it MEG back then, can't remember) and Outcast Gaming, if you were a noob and hopped in com and you did 1 fuck up, you could have gotten banned for "griefing". We have grown so much more tolerant since then, and our player population has dropped.

Yes they have tools, but considering one of my friends who I play CS:GO with has said some EXTREMELY violent things he has yet to receive any sort of punishment. They are there to make people "feel good" and "feel like something is being done". The only time I have reported someone in Dota 2, despite absolutely SUCKING at it and being flamed continuously everytime I play is when a guy AFKed throughout the match. Seriously, I don't take offense to what some random stranger says, and neither should any of you. Grow the hell up.

I used to play all the time but now that I don't have viper I am free not to play or be in the middle of the nasty BS that goes on on a daily basis.

you are advocating abuse and bullying.

and just because other communities tolerate bad behavior doesn't make it right or acceptable. and not banning a player just because they are a vet is such a poor excuse. I have banned/kicked devs and vets on viper and removed admins because IMO no one is above the rules.

Life is full of frustrating aggravating situations if someone is going to act this way in a real life situation they would not be tolerated.
Learn self control and tolerance, its just a game for pete's sakes.
You should grow the hell up and learn whats acceptable and what isn't.

Yet, I rarely see you on. Most games are NOT toxic in anyway what so ever.

No, you see there is a big different between abuse and bullying, and what I am advocating.
Here is the definition of Abuse:
treat (a person or an animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly.

Here is the definition of bullying:
use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.

In both definitions, I am advocating neither. In fact, what I am advocating is for mean things to be said if the com is retarded. I have laid my case out CLEARLY saying that if the com is basically totally incompetent, then it is okay to get mad at them. In this case, they brought it on themselves by essentially griefing, but again in neither case is it a repeated offense against them. If they continually hop in the com and continually make the idiotic choices they made previously, then yea I guess it would be "abuse" and "bullying" but they would also be continually "abusing" and "bullying" their team by their idiotic choices. I am advocating for eye for an eye basically, only in this case one eye is ruining the game and the other is getting bitched at.

Grows tough skin as well, especially for little children (Whom you are advocating for, again this isn't hugboxpires), who shouldn't take offense to something some random internet stranger says. It is pathetic that we live in a day and age when we are now coddling children from the harshness of the real world. You are a couple clicks away on the internet from seeing some guys intestines spilling out, you are 1 word away from accidentally getting all search results to be porn yet we have to sit here and coddle the children who are "F S Spaced".

I'm not advocating for keeping vets solely on that reason, my point made was also that during any sort of competitive event we realized that it made players more toxic so we just accepted it. We didn't want to make it a giant hug box where people loved each other, we weren't hippies. As a staff we realized that this was natural for people to get angry when losing and to pin it on someone. We didn't care during these events because of this very reason.

People act in these situations all the time in real life... you obviously have never worked service industry at any point in your life because you would quickly learn that even when someone is screaming at you saying some pretty toxic things that they are right no matter what.

Also, I do have self control, it is why I teach newbies all the time how to com. In fact, I'm not one to be toxic usually, I'm just standing up for people's rights to vent and rage in a game that is competitive and breeds raging.

Also, I have grown up Vicki. I realized that you can't mute the internet, I realized that the internet is full of dark things and angry people, I learned from gaming as well that no matter what game it is people will rage, but it seems to me you haven't though. The internet is a fucked up place, you can't create a safe place for little children no matter how hard you try.

    Fuck me. Come on guys.
Don't want new / inexperienced commanders? Join a team and consider opting in when the round starts.
Otherwise just deal with it or leave the server.

It's pretty easy to mute the internet.

It's called a ban. Works on servers too.

And I generally do when I join a team. However, you get those retards who hop in who don't do anything and don't listen and then, like BRD, post complaints when they get F S Spaced.

Actually, you can't mute the internet, shit still gets to you.

Also, it's called a mute button in the server. Ya know when you hold tab and click on a persons name it mutes them? Now you know.
