Why do you need more then 1 open ?
    And "desktop friendly" ????
""Virtual Desktop"" you get more Desktops on your Desktop. You can also share your virtual Desktops that are on your desktop with another virtual desktop on another desktop....That's pretty fucking desktop friendly if you ask me.

Not the news I wanted to hear, going to try out Win 10 soon. I just need the multi-monitor DPI scaling, DirectX 12 and those Skylake energy savings!

from what I have seen so far.... windows 10 version reports as 10.0 where as windows 7 is 6.1 and windows 8 is 6.2 and 6.3. They just up and skipped everything to version 10.

I would be happy as fuck if they just went Version 10 for 10, then 11 for whatever's next, then 12 for what's after that. It's annoying having to reference the version list every time I need to write a script that works differently on different versions. (Seriously, why is Windows 7/SP1 versions 6.0/6.1, Windows 8 is 6.2 and 8.1 is 6.3?)

When vista came out it was 6.0 and people referenced it as 6 or 6.x. To avoid shitty programs breaking for 7, 7 became 6.1.

Many programs don't optimise for 7 or 8.0 at all and run in vista-mode. for everything after 5.3

I need help. I have windows 10 since the first day it came out. Today I booted up and my start menu and task bar are broken. I cant right click on any task bar icons and if I left click start menu button I get a message saying its a critical error.

    press CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE,
    Inside Taskmanager:
    Navigate to File, New Task

Once you have an elevated command prompt:
    type sfc.exe /scannow

It will take some time and will idealy check and repair any files that differ from a genuine windows installation.

This might fix it, but shouldn't harm if it does not fix it.

    Please report how it went.

You can try uninstalling the latest update(s), reboot and see if that fixes it.
Updates will automatically reinstall themselves at a later point though.
    Only guesswork from here on.

    Downgrading breaks important scheduled tasks!

If you downgrade from Windows 10 using the "Go back to.." button, the task scheduler in the OS you go back to will have broken Tasks!

No matter if you go back to 8.1/8.0/7.

I had 69 errors, reporting 67 broken tasks and 2 missing tasks. 48 of them where M$-Tasks, the others where from Software and own projects. I just noticed it because several autostart processes didn't work anymore.

Fix it by hand and waste 3 hours of your life

Let a script fix it for you until M$ gets their fucking shit back toghether

Or reinstall your Windows of choice

Edit: If you have a backup from before you tried Windows 10, keep it as long as you can. I suspect more hidden broken pieces.

I am fuming. Thought I had made sure my computer wouldn't upgrade, and was running an important program overnight.

Woke up to find my computer was now Windows 10, and my program's results are gone with the wind. What the actual fuck Microsoft.

A little late, but good to know that does more than disable the notification now.

Because it's normal that you need 3rd party software to make sure you don't suddenly have a different operating system. Seriously, it interrupted my program about halfway through to do this... why no user prompts?
