I will wait a week or two until I put Win 10 on my desktop, let the early adopters deal with the bugs. I'm just a little bit concerned about the privacy loss with Windows 10, I don't need Cortana and her NSA friends. (I know you can deactivate her, but still)

Someone test Empires on Windows 10, it should work fine right?

Yeah, whatever you do DON'T make an account with Microsoft, just skip it and use a local account and much of the spying is gone.

    In a year or so.

Been running W10 Preview for a month as my daily driver, upgraded to RTM last week. Haven't encountered any bugs yet and all my games work flawlessly.

If anybody is desperate supposedly you can do

    > wuauclt.exe /updatenow

No idea if that works or not. Some report that it does, others say it starts the download and then fails.

I am planning on waiting a month or three for at least one of my systems, the other one probably even longer. Not like it matters that much anyway, full backups are nice to have.

    Things I hope aren't fucked up/shit anymore:
    Windows Search Indexing
Maybe the Frowny Face of Frustration (the new BSoD) could offer just a single HEX error code more often instead of dumping it in a log file in the hopes that you'll be able to go and recover that log file
    Windows backup tools

One thing I do like about the Frowny Face of Frustration is its soothing blue background, and that the abbreviation for it (FFoF) is exactly the sound you make when you see it: Eff Eff OH EFF

    Download ISO here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Waiting on an official Xonar driver release for Windows 10 before I upgrade. Otherwise I would upgrade immediately.

Well, atleast without the online account you evade the data mining that they officialy state in their ToS. If they do stuff behind your back, then you are helpless anyway, no matter what Windows version you use. But I'm sure in the next days we will hear from privacy organisations what stuff we have to care about.

where does it state that they dont collect personalized data if you dont have a microsoft account?
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement/default.aspx

actually i wonder how much your online profile actually influences your marketing profile. i never fill out any form with my real data (unless its governmental or for warranty reasons) and im sure im not alone with this.
so how trustworthy are the online profiles companies get? i wonder if you maybe even get more reliable info out of analysing behaviour.

I've run 7 on this machine since I got it in January 2010, and I find there is no reason to upgrade.

I'd have to get a new computer to run newer games anyway, and I'd rather deal with an OS I know. The new OS's offer all kinds of bugs and stupid shit, but no features you need for a gaming/office PC.

I've heard that it runs a bit more efficiently then win 7, or maybe I'm thinking of 8?, which would be nice on the day to day use.
