It's funny, but this is pretty true. I remember playing with Trickster on NF once and he was being loud as per usual. He kept listing out all of the things that NF needed to do to win. And after about the third time of repeating his spiel, it dawned on me that there really wasn't anything more that he could possibly ask from NF. He was asking for absolute top tier gameplay from every class. Granted, he wasn't wrong at all, but it's still a little upsetting that NF needs to literally do everything that they could possibly do to play ball on escort. I get that there's some asymmetrical win split going on, but I sorta don't like that on principal. People come into a game thinking they have roughly the same base chance of winning at their opponents. It's confusing and upsetting to deviate from that.
Getting an asymmetrically designed map to have equal or near equal win chances for both teams is nigh on impossible. I would agree that if you played a symmetrical map, or a map with identical objectives for both sides, you would expect an even win percentage split. However, objective-based maps like escort (or nuclear. No dodging that) won't have that luxury from the very get-go. 80/20 split is on the verge of being too bad to be played though, the ratio can't be skewed to one side too much or else nobody would be willing to play the worse side. Edit: That post above me shows complete and Sparty aren't different from each other really
the map geometry favors northern, but thats why theres tanks for brenodi. i doubt the original intend was to have it skewed favoring just BE.
you sure? cause all i would do is change a shitty map into, worse case scenerio, a shitty map. spartacus took an almost balanced game and made it bad bad flasche, im also of the opinion that i doubt BE is supposed to win all the time
I like the fact that there is route that only NF can use. If there were 2-3 more of them the odds of winning could be greatly improved.
I had always enjoyed playing on NF because there’s really not much room for me to make mistakes, which was pretty exciting, and I actually needed my team to win, I had to work with bad teammates and squad leads. I think my personal winrate on escort is around 50~60%, on VIPER.
In Spartapires Turrets are your primary attack force. Double their distance and fire rate, then we don't need more than 1v1 games. Change game name "Empires Tower Defense". Now we need gargoyle turrets, and arty turrets.
I don't see the problem with turrets, people can't just blindly run in to a bunch of level 3s and expect to be ok. I can't talk much about escort though, be with dual he cannons and how close everything is means those turrets don't last long anyway.
I have an idea that could potentially make escort the best thing ever or the dumbest thing ever. I am leaning on dumbest. Give NF access to tanks, and turn it into a tug of war map. Re-balancing the tickets to equal and who can hold 75% of the map drains enemy tickets faster.
That would be cool, but it'd be a different map. For me, what you described isn't escort. But seriously though, it'd be a cool map.
Just today I played escort on Epic as BE, and it was the worst game I've ever played. Its just unfun. Both sides have no opportunities to use interesting tactics. NF has no chance to, and BE has no need to. You can't even sneak past the enemy effectively. I built the bridge past the 2nd flag before it was capped, and there was a straight-up invisible wall blocking my way. I did not like that at all. My suggestion is to, as others have said, reduce the amount of resources on BE to the point where every tank matters, unresearch heavies like on Viper, allow, maybe two people to recap the flags as NF instead of four, get rid of that invisible wall I previously mentioned, and maybe allow a few more side routes as BE. But then again, if it's supposed to be won as BE 90% of the time, then implementing what I said earlier won't achieve that goal. (Not that it's one this map should aspire to.)
Yeah, give complete the vmf. He did a good job on glycen so I want a fun version of escort too. If anyone can fix an infantry map it's him.
