    Then that's their damn fault for keeping their complaints as rumors and whispers, hidden away from the people who can do anything. I'm not about to perform some subterfuge simply because people with honest criticisms are too chickenshit/suck-ups to actually say anything.

    Truly, the base of empires teamplay has been irrevocably shaken by this out of nowhere and never suggested change.
    I bet you'dve cried about arty and nukes being removed around 2.0 from escort and how it restricted your creative approach to spawncamping.

    Oh wow, I dont even play that much now, especially since the stats started being recorded. Hardly anyone plays gren now. No wonder people get screwed by early tanks so much.

    Just saying, that weapon kill stats only records last 28 days.
    I know you don't even play that much (like me) but even you are #65 in terms of "connection time". This says we don't have that much "obsessed" players.

    Also I believe suicide ACTUALLY count as killing yourself in stats, that's why thestig497 even at one point, reached 0 point.

    Instead of what changed what about a compromise?
    Make mines do more damage to vehicles.
    combine nades. Make scout nades sticky stun + concussion.
    make riflemen nades go farther but stick instead of bouncing.
    Give a scoped weapon just limit it's zoom.
    Remove the odd red x for cannons.
    Make 3phase lighter again just reduce handling so it spins out easier.

    Also thanks again sparty.
    Even tho I hate most of the changes I am thankful that you are trying new things.

    I kinda giggle a bit when I read this from a few different people, like that was somehow intentional.

    I rather question why the rifleman doesn't have such amazing resistance to bullets anymore, that one just seems a bit odd...

    I wish I could comment on mines at least, but I don't hit them that often to begin with(outside of vehicles that is) so I haven't really noticed anything. It kinda made me wonder actually, where do most people get mine kills on commander maps when it comes to infantry? Generally the entrance to buildings, which most of the time is some gren spamming mines at the enemies barracks or vf entrance. At least that is what it feels like to me.

    I normally mine our teams buildings. Or sometimes around our CV. Other then that I try to place them infantry only places like ladders, bridges,....... So now mines are kind of useless. Even without refusal they do so little damage.

    Ah yeah, but... most stock commander maps don't really have ladders or narrow bridges that is for infantry only. The only one that comes to mind is isle I think.

    2 mines should kill any infantry though, just stack 2 of them. I'm personally not really bothered by it because for commander maps I end up using them to prevent vehicle rushes. Which means the infantry resists don't bother me none.

    That isn't to say I think the change is good, but you should consider what else changes because of this. People won't instant blow up when someone mines a rax, people have to actively defend something instead of letting the mines do the brunt of the work, flags won't be a gren only zone like they can be now. Just try it out and see what else you can do is what I'm getting at. Patch has been live for only like 3 days, that isn't a whole lot of time to really see the benefits or negatives from a objective light.

    That said I do think plasma has seen some fair use and it does have a heat problem. It heating a target at the same rate it heats the driver up isn't good balance at all. Not at the amount of damage it can do. Not when you consider that an enemy that can't fire back means your tank ends up taking less damage. Especially not for the fact that having the ability to send a tank to overheat state is ridiculously useful because a tank that can't move is a dead tank. There was a good reason plasma had the highest heat compared to everything else.

    1) That won't solve anyone's problems; they'll still complain that they don't 1-shot infantry.
    2) We're still sorting out grenades; I thought Spartacus had made it abundantly clear that nothing that has been done is permanent.
    3) I don't see how that solves any problems at all with anything; see previous.
    4) That doesn't stop people from being retarded from it and will just get people bitching about how then can't snipe with so little zoom. As it is, the sniper rifle already has very little zoom.
    5) Why do people think this is permanent? Did it ever occur to anyone ever that something so blatantly retarded was intended? And I don't want to hear "Well all these changes are blatantly retarded" from anyone, unless they're trying to prove that they lack the capacity to distinguish between multiple levels of retarded.
    6) Can't change the handling from the engine (as far as I know). Besides, you don't balance something by making it fucking painful and infuriating to use; you balance it by giving reasonable tradeoffs. In fact, this is especially warranted because of all the people who claim 3-phase is the best because they can't get hit. I figure if they can't get hit, they shouldn't need as much armor; unless they're getting hit more often than they claim to.

    Currently, plasma is bugged because Spartacus was experimenting with bio effects on it. It turns out that every "tick" of the damage also applied the full heat, causing Plasma to apply 20 heat from hitting plus another 100 over the course of 5 seconds due to ticking once per second. I just pushed out a build to rectify this.

    The main issue with plasma, and why I warned Spartacus about dealing with it, is that it's hard to balance something like that. Notably, it can be countered by using an engine that cools faster than what the driver with plasma has, or can be avoided by using Biodiesel. It was also in a unique position of being in the game but being unused to the point that it could be ignored and no one would mind.


    For the record, before people go off about "Devs making the game they want to play", god knows I haven't done that. Here's a short list of the changes I'm absolutely opposed to: Another armor, moving Gas Turbine to Advanced Machining, buffing Plasma, removing HE grenades, swapping P1 and P2, adding 40% mine resist, removing seismic resist, adding 55% missile resist, making the BEAR and NFHR multi-shot. In fact, I'd wager that I dislike the mine changes more than 95% of the active playerbase does. But I'm far more interested in the game changing and being interesting than it stagnating.

    That's why I'm supporting the change Spartacus is making, regardless of whether or not I support the individual ones. If he does one that goes extremely far, is extremely unilateral or particularly gamebreaking (he almost made NFHR do 90 damage a shot without realizing it), that's when I won't push a build out, but past some suggestions and warnings that I give him, I don't do anything to impede him on a regular basis. (If anything, I'm enabling him by giving him information about the underworkings.)

    You mean that nuke resist? Because hit missiles are the only thing effected by it, should probably be renamed to something to that effect, otherwise everyone will kinda think a bunch of other weapons are getting nerfed too.

    Didn't know about plasma being bugged though, but I also don't know why he raised plasma heat to 20 either. I guess it was more of hard counters like you say, but when I had to command a round of mvalley I kept hearing complaints from everyone about how unfun plasma is to fight against.

    in fact this time i wont be negative i like the update other than jeeps not being able to take different engines, the BEAR being 3 shot burst.........again and the improved standard cannon not being able to fit on light tanks because i swear that improved standard used to be able to fit on light tanks in 2.24

    For the jeeps, it was that standard was made as good as Gas Turbine was previously. We wanted jeeps to be consistently good regardless of what a commander researched; so although now jeeps are worse if a commander gets 3-phase or fission, they're better than if a comm gets AC or bio. It also has the added benefit of having jeeps be better right out of the box instead of needing research to get a better engine.

    The BEAR is a work in progress; it really is an underused weapon that doesn't serve much purpose. One idea is to make it better at range, but Empires doesn't work well with long-range combat so we're still hashing that out.

    Improved standard cannon did used to be 1-slot, but the idea is to match that you can put 2xML on a medium but you can't put 2xCN on one.

    I want to throw out there that the exact same people gave me the exact same shit when I shook things up a couple of years ago, and now those exact same people are giving Spartacus shit for changing the exact scripts they bitched about previously.

    Like seriously you guys, what part about this don't you understand. Change is good, and is absolutely required. It doesn't matter if you're going from better to worse, or worse to better. The fact is, it doesn't matter if we had absolutely perfect scripts before. They were stale, overplayed and essentially completed. Now you have to learn shit again, and that's the most fun thing there is to do in Empires.

    I'm not going to sit here and act like I agree with absolutely every change, but it's important that you have faith in what Spartacus is doing, and that from my perspective, don't try to compromise his vision by leaning on him. Why don't you instead give half decent feedback and support someone who's going to update your game way more than I have for the past couple of years, and give him the feedback to actually make those updates.

    if you want me to be honest, your script changes did not turn out that good. no one understands that you have to be constantly moving for some engines, and stationary for others. you know why? because its not said anywhere besides probably the description where it is buried under a bunch of "story" bullshit.

    the same story bullshit that changes weapon names to Falcon X-69 when EVEN THE DEVS still refer to shit as pistol 1

    i dont have faith because his gifs suck
