Hi everyone! I used to play this mod years ago, and recently got into 3D modeling as à hobby. So, i thought i could possibly make some stuff based on Empires but put my own spin on it. I started out with the northern faction, which in my mind should be à mix of old russia, diesel punk and american 50's cars. With that in mind, i have tried to apply it to this Medium tank. i really like the side fenders area on this model, but Will probably change the rest. I am posting this from à phone so it might look weird, but I will keep this thread updated as i make more stuff.
i really like how it fits the light tank design with those round things on the side. more pics please :D
Basically just posting a like. However, if I'm to be critical here, bear in mind the Medium tank can hold a maximum number of 1 Bullet-Based Weapon, 1 Cannon and 1 Missile Weapon. Of course we know right now we just have things appearing near the tank, but if you wanted to get it spot on...that's basically what you're working with. That's not to say the tank doesn't look awesomesauce right now, though.
No, a medium can have 2 standard mls. Currently the only limit to missiles is how many slots you have. It does look neat. Like an improved version of the nf light.
...you're right, how did I forget that? I guess it's a case of not doing something for so long that you think it's the only way to do something. So I guess it can have dual CN and MG as well, then, right? *shudder* Not that it would be advisable in the slightest.
Nah, it is only mls you can stack. 6 shot be heavies were a stupid fun thing though. Oh wait, apparently on heavies you can have 2 mgs, though I don't know why you would do that.
I'm afraid i don't have access to any of the current models so i have nothing to compare it to. Just remembered i had a model of this shotgun pistol as well, i will try to animate it at some point.
Actually....we had that. Which is why it got removed. Also we did have double shot mediums but...it wasn't viable.
you can use crowbar to decompile the mdl and import the resulting qc in blender using blender source tools. its all tris so you would need to merge a lot of faces if youd want to edit it, but for a quick render it works as is, just need to assign textures to materials (well its a tad more). http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CrowbarTool/discussions/0/540743212934593209/ for textures you can just batch convert the vtfs from the empires folder to png with vtfedit http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=178
hmm.. wait... there doesn't seem to be any kind of latch to keep the barrels in the closed position. That and the barrels and have little support (which could be forgiven if the latching mechanism appeared strong enough).
Fuckin A that has to be one of the best tank models to ever be posted here (minus the Beast). Issue is that the barrel needs to pivot in the Y axis, so if there's some way you can make your model support that without taking away from its compact aesthetic, then it'd be great.
I know that, that was why I mentioned it. I may be relatively new to the forums but I did start empires up back in 2007, around when orange box came out.
No... 2.0 when it got a big press release on steam along with I think zombie panic. It happened a few months after orange box came out. November or early December, I forget which.
