No, but I haven't seen you play in a while and a lot of people do end up mixing maps up when they haven't been playing. Though I really should have known it was joke when you mentioned a map that is the complete opposite of what communism said.
hey we had a good 8 hours of populated viper server without any district or escort then district came on and after that the server reduced to 18 people
but how does this fit with all this "a certain map can seed servers"? especially district has this reputation ... ... could it be that its a completely wrong assumption? could it be that seeding servers is mainly dependent on time of day and people playing, while map choice is a rather minor factor?
I would say it also very much depends on if there are commander persons around. Whats a comm map without any comms? I would say the biggest server clearers are a comm maps without comms. A district can be pain for most people to play when there is enough players and enough comms. But can help populate when there is lack of both. (atleast sometimes) When I see that there are only very few players playing, I would more likely join if there was a district or other infantry map rather than some comm map. As very low pop comm map can very often feel just like a waste of time. (sometimes not) An infantry map means that I can hop in straight into some action. But that also very much depends on how much time do I have. Sometimes I dont have enough time to go through all the pain of populating a low pop server and just simply go play other game so I can have atleast some fun in my limited time or if it was infantry map, I would join. But that all can be different for other players. As I very much enjoy infantry combat for obvious reasons. But overall yeah, it depends very much on time of day.
The truth of the matter is that playing Empires, everyone should be prepared to man up and play comm if there is no one willing. The sad fact is that most people aren't. And even if people would man up, the flak they get from the rest of the community dissuades them.
They need to get the fuck over it. I don't give a shit on how many people hate it when I com, if nobody is going to do it, then I will. It's called a mute function, unless somebody is talking over you and cursing you out, mute the fuck head and attempt to take control of the situation.
If nobody is comming then I'll gladly take the comm seat. Why? So that I can show everybody how awesome fission DUMG apcs are with plasma support. But people generally only make DU and no plasmas so the awesome teamwork of freezing an enemy tank with plasma and then killing it with DU is RIP. But if you had a plasma apc with a few stickybomb rifles... Ideally a BE apc so that one rifle could wank it in slot 2 with an HMG. Having a squad effectively roam in an APC so that they steal refs, assassinate vehicles, and harass bases would be so awesome. But everybody hates eachother so we can't have teamwork.
You don't say. There is a difference between trolling, and killing the server. Trolling is annoying the fuck out of spike, flipping vehicles, and acting goofy. Griefing is what makes people stop playing the game. Killing the server, is griefing.
And so is camping in a map corner with hide, doing nothing whatsoever. I still got shat upon for killing the dude and going back to spec.
Fine, I wont unflip the com out of the water. Or fix him out of a hole or a ditch. I mean it's not like an enemy tank or a saboteur can do these things to my commander. Unthinkable!!! That is only acceptable when it's FN. You ghosting bastard.
Commanding to me feels like a punishment for something, which is having a basic idea of how empire works. I don't always hate it, but a lot of times it is the most terrible thing because there is just nothing to do. Both in the way of I can't directly influence fights and I just end up watching my little guys move around cause I did my chores already. This is why I started stacking spec a while ago, I know if I join the team early I'll end up in the seat so people can play.Thing is I don't really want be bored the entire time while everyone whines about things going wrong*. *Wrong could imply me being bad, me being busy and not being able to respond to their request every 10 seconds, or they don't like how I run things and think we lose because of that. Oh, I would like to point out that neoony is completely right I think. Though someone said it earlier and I agree, things that help seed the server end up causing people to leave when the server is crowded already. Ends up being too many people in one place and what not.
