Come on, that isn't how this works. The patch notes include various baffling and excellent sentences like "megabeasts/forgotten beasts can attack, destroy and then reside within world gen sites like dwarf fortresses" and "startled people climb up the walls of their homes a little too often"—you can find the full breakdown on the DF site. Perhaps the most interesting part of this latest development is what it more or less breaks—the in-game graphics that are now possible with the latest version of Stonesense, the Dwarf Fortress visualiser that until now has only been able to run alongside the game. Now this can be integrated into the main game proper, albeit more stably if you choose to use it on the older version of DF from 2012. The latest version of Stonesense, along with DwarfTherapist and various other tweaks, is included in the Dwarf Fortress starter pack, which is the one to go for if you're not too comfortable with either the ascii or the complex keyboard controls found in the base game. The starter pack will let you use mouse controls, in addition to integrating the Stonesense visualiser into the game. (To activate this, by the way, press "ctrl-shift-P" in game to activate the console, before typing "stonesense overlay"). There are currently two versions of the starter pack available: a more stable one based on the 2012 iteration of Dwarf Fortress, and a more buggy one based on its recently released 2014 update. While the team work on that new one, it's probably best to go for the more stable one, particularly if you're new to the game.

So, any fucking way, fps bleed is stronger than ever. Also werecreatures crash the fort when people start blocking its hits Edit: apparently crashing corrupts the savefile. Boo
I'm gonna see my 34.11 fortress to it's doom before I start in on this. The April fools day release in 2012 was revolutionary much as this one but wasn't any real fun to play until it got ironed out. People who require babby tilesets or just go "lol the keys are too complicated :-d" are pathetic casuals who don't deserve DF.
Only thing I really wanted for df was a way to save room designs, so I could hammer out the dwarf living quarters in like 2 minutes as oppose to 30 minutes. Haven't really played in so long though, I feel like if I gave this a shot I would have to relearn the entire game.
The multitile trees make everything better, it adds so much to the game. I hope the multi z-lvl viewer addon gets a stable release soon.
Actually, one thing they make worse is high slopes maps. It really makes the map hard to read and really distracting. I just cut like 80% of them. All this wood. Its raining logs.
Is there a way to use the tree stuff? All these fucking walnuts and cherries and not a thing i can do about them.
