Empires Wont Start -1.071

Just tried to play empires, and it's being a bitch and not working

 

install your updates already! (*looking at the little icon in your system tray)

 

I would suggest you backup the Empires folder and reinstall the whole mod.

 

No steam games work! :S

 

it looks like your running way to many programs... free up some space then play

 

played empires with more windows than that before, anyway when I first tried (the screenshot is the 5th) there was only empires

 

You have to install 1.00 then 1.07 then 1.071.

Oh wait, programmed response.

 

Had this problem before. All it took was a system reboot. Hope that solves it for you.

Bleh this might be thread hijacking, but my steam doesnt even start. It'll be a process in the background but never do anything. Dont even bother replying, I'll figure it out later when I'm actually in the mood to use it (Episode 2, 1.08, whichever comes out first.)

Just saying it to validate a point=WTF is steam for? Its as useless as moddb.

 

The point is them being able to advertise other products and more easily sell you their games (And other's games at a fee to them) Its all about the money. Same applies to Microsoft. And unfortunitly there are too few people intelligent enough to stand together against it.

Ok i got a new comp an installed Empires
Played for over a week then boom all I get now is "Cant connect to VAC servers"
Plug old comp in an that wont let me play empires
go thru All the steam crap check for viruses/spyware still not work
delete steam reinstall everything Still wont f'kin work
reinstall XP an HL2 an everything else check direct x drivers etc etc STILL wont FFFFFFKIN Work
But I can play deathmatch - TFC - css etc Just cant play 3rd party mods??
WTF is going on I have posted on Steam an checked forums NOthing
I have seen people playing on empires but some have said they experienced problems.
AM i the only person with problems and IF other people had similar problems would they even bother posting, surely I am not the only one with VAC error..
I am still waiting for STEAM support to answer my support question what I fing strange is I get the SAME message connecting to Empires Non vac servers , oh and I can start hte game it just errors me after about 2-4 minutes???

 

I had that VAC error, gave up, played some CSS, was able to Empires the next day. I didn't reinstall, delete the .blob, nothing. I just gave it time, so I don't know how to help you GI-Jane.

Exact same problem though, it was annoying.

When I try to play, the current game always says 'download paused' just before launch. Does this help?

ATI Drivers might be the problem, "Severe" as the Steam Diag says

 

Reinstall your drivers, don't install catalyst. Use Ray Adam's ATI Tray Tools instead. I hope that helps.

 

I use the catalyst control center without problems.

Yeah I've noticed you try to join the server a few times but never get in.

I didnt change any shit on my system except the latest fuckin steamup. I already had to turn off my chromium win xp style, cause the new steam.exe was messing up with the stylethemeprocess......
I can play all regular sourcegames (DoD, CSS, Hl2DM.....) except empires.
Here i get kicked from all servers after max. 3 min, cause empires cant connect to the vacserver.
When i try to create my own empiresgame, empires simply crashes with the message:
"Unable to find authentication library exiting.."
followed by some final memory acces violation error....grrr

 

I haven't been able to play for 6 months (my computer bricking and this stupid VAC thing) At this rate I won't be able to play empires until airplanes are introduced

 

I have never had that problem, but ...

I read about an ati driver somewere .. I still have a driver from july i think. I don't download new ones, because they always give me problems one way or another. what videocards do you guys use ? at least tell if it's ati or nvidia.
