I picked up a nexus 7 for about 200. Also in the market for an SSD if I find a reputable model at a good price.

    http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/107...nternal-solid-state-drive-ssd-500gb-280-250gb

    Get this.

I bought a 500GB 840 for that price. You won't see a reputable 500GB SSD for anything cheaper.

The 256GB version is also an excellent price ($150 is good for a 256GB SSD), but not as exceptional as the higher capacity version.

If you haven't used a machine with an ssd before, you're about to get mind fucked.

Unfortunately, you grow to expect ALL machines to be that snappy and then using an HDD-driven machine becomes painful. First world problems...

Been part of the SSD Master Race since 2010 and daaaymn gurl I can never go back. Still got a 500 GB HDD for storage, but running win7 and some games on the solid state. Major disadvantage to SSD besides the price is the limited life span. I try my best to avoid as many writes to them as I can, but it sucks knowing that one day it will be dead. Any tips on preserving SSD's, spart? I figure you might know since you are mega computer geek.

Make sure TRIM is enabled. Windows 7 supports it and your drive probably does as well. Google around to see how if your drive supports it and how to check that it's enabled.

Other than that, don't worry about it. If you have a typical client workload, your ssd will last for a long time. By the time it fails, it will be stupidly cheap to replace it with something much larger and faster.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
I've always had the mindset of starting up the computer right when I wake up, or at least 10 minutes before I want to use it.

Also looking for some new cookware. Might go to the walmart today :/

It's kind of like the argument between console resolution: 720p on Xbox one and 1080p on PS4.
