I'm looking for a decent Gaming PC. I've got plenty of laptops, so this is intended to be a kick ass video system, quad core i7, and plenty of power. I know I can get something adequate for under $500, but I'm looking for a very decent video card and I think ASUS is quality. I also know I should buy components and build it myself, but I just want PnP.

What do you think of this ?

    Gamer Chimera4S NE755SLC Desktop PC (ASUS P9X79 series Motherboard) Intel Core i7 3820(3.60GHz) 16GB DDR3 1TB HDD+ 120GB SSD HDD Capacity NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

Any recommendations on a better system ?

My take on the review being 3 star is due to some guys who had shitty builds - which does not take away from the quality of the system.

    Advice?

    Here it is.

Get at least $1000, if you want to build a really good gaming PC.
    Not even including monitor.

    Thx,

Wookie - looks like a Kick Ass system - and the best of everything. I think I only need THIRD BEST, since this is intended only as a gaming machine and not something for work.

As for UGLY - I don't entertain in my computer room. I will shove it under a desk and probably disable the damn lights. A lit keyboard would be nice. Eventually it would move into my family room to upgrade the Media Center, and again those damn lights would just be a pain.

I used to go to Lan Parties. Weekend of flat foods, and high caffeine drinks to play until 3am. But I have no plans to restart those. Guys would show up with flashy cases and I'd still kick their ass in the games :)

    Trickster - nice link !

Another site I use for deals is:
    http://www.techbargains.com/

I'd like to stay under $1500 USD.

most of those midrange setups are weird when you look at them sitting in germany. There are better choices for cases, PSUs and ... oh actually that sites is not that bad.

Looking at that builds as pure gaming machines, that guide is even great for the average 14yo faggot.

i've built two computers from the logical increments guide. it's a solid resource for gauging price and matching parts. in my opinion, the latest LI guide is all you need to build the right machine.

Only buy an i7 if you plan overclocking it, otherwise just go for an i5

You should be fine with a gtx 650 / 660. For manufaturers I prefer EVGA, their cards seem less cheaply build and they follow Nvidia spec on PCB layout.

So, do we really need to find you a prebuild sys or will you surrender and build one yourself?

    Tips for prebuild:

    Dell is shit
Lenovo is sometimes shit (very much depending what series you'r looking at)
HP makes funky workstations (no idea how their gaming stations look)
    Sony is a cunt.
Acer is just cheesy (as in build way to cheaply)

    Don't buy AiO systems ever.

I'll find you some setups later.

    I use http://www.velocitymicro.com/WhyVM.php
They are still relatively new on the market, but pretty good.

Shouldn't this be in off topic?
since is a gaming computer and not empires discussion.

I didn't even notice it was in general discussion, I only browse the forums through the new posts function. Thanks for pointing that out, moved.

Also yeah, stop spamming shitty links that aren't the logical increments guide. It it superior to every other build-guide.

Those boutiques provide excellent service. But they cost a pretty penny. They are especially useful for sff machines, which I'm quite fond of.

For most nerdy customers that care more about raw function than form, boutiques aren't the best place to get a pc.

Off Topic, General Discussion, Off Off Topic, Not On Topic - until the names make some sense, I'll dump in the woods when the urge happens and where it happens. Now let me squat some more into this topic.

Wookie - You know that building your own system requires you to stay on top of all those hundreds of components. I used to do that but you have to do it continuously since it changes so frequently. I like ASUS - they've never let me down, I wouldn't touch Dell, Acer, or shit box HP computers. So Asus everything is on the top of my list. That is why the system I previously linked to seemed ideal.

You also know that all that system knowledge makes you a target for everyone who wants a cheap system - no profit for you. I used to build my own systems - but then I was building them for every family member and neighbor and it completely burned me out. Guys would drop off their case on a weekend and call me ten hours later asking if I was done yet "I'll be out fishing". Here's a six pack of beer - THANKS ! One guy I asked to replace my furnace after spending nine hours building him a system for free, and installing SW and lots of games and shit for his kids, then backing everything up to CD's (pre-dvd days). When he was done I told him - "Nice only four hours work. Makes my nine hour system upgrade really worthwhile for you." At that point his hourly fee discussion went to "Well I guess this one is on me then".

I have no problem buying a system and swapping out shit components. Tell me what you don't like about that system I chose. It has the GTX 670, ASUS motherboard - but may be over priced. I may look for all the components and price that out - but I don't want to buy the wrong CPU or memory, there really is alot you need to know to get into building your own system.

I appreciate any advice. Someone should really make a web site that has a Tree that shows all the selections, links to TechBargains for deals, choose this motherboard and you must choose between these memory chips and this is your best place to buy, then you need this CPU and for that option choose between these cooling systems. The best choice would be calculated and someone could just choose some options to find their criteria for best choice. Then advertise for all those manufacturers and GET RICH !
