Everything that starts with Foo sucks gigantic dick.

Except Foo Fighters. Fucking love Foo Fighters.

Yeah I can appreciate that. I just wiped my history the other day. No-one has ever looked at it but a lot of the shit I've been on at /r/Imgoingtohellforthis and /r/4chan would be pretty bad if people saw them.

Can that actually be done? I know some routers can but I'm fairly sure your average ISP-provided router doesn't.

I too use Winamp, all my friends use spoitfy and that is quite handy I will admit.
But I prefer using my caveman Esq music player because I just stick it on a thumb drive and it just works, no internet involved, no reason for it be blocked it just works.

I also don't like how big and ridiculous some players are, has a bunch of shit I will never use nor would I know what they are for.
Its just a tiny little box at the bottom center of my desktop and I just use my page keys to skip or go next for songs.

I even know that can done.
    And I am mostly technophobic.

By the simple fact that your router and ISP needs to know where the packets are intending to go to send them there, it's easy enough to do.

However, it's generally not done unless there's a good reason for it to be done.

Also, Foobar is simple as fuck and also can be ran off a portable drive. I have Foobar configured in portable mode with playlists setup on it so that I can use my phone as a music player normally, but if I'm at a computer then I can just use the computer instead of draining my phone battery.

    Foobar scares me...
It shows advancement of the human race and shows how much we rely on technology.
It also promises the next Y2K...

Opera: It's the only browser that I feel really comfy with.
Resource hunger when just 3 tabs are open is truly a downside,
but with normally around 40 tabs open and a unique searchbar
and long history for every open or closed tab that is just outstanding.
Also tab-grouping, build-in IRC client and superb mouse gestures:
    • right-click + left-click = go back in this tabs history
    • left-click + right-click = go forward in history
    • right-mouse + drag left/right = go back/forth in history
    • dozens more that I keep forgetting about
Opera even supports 32bit plug-ins on 64bit browser version.
And well working AdBlock Plus and plugin execution only on request settings.
And Opera has a proper Session management,
that doesn't lose older sessions (firefox did that to me way to often)

And Opera will abandon it's own awesome rendering engine to use webkit in the future
(that will maybe be a Plus, or a good reason to hang myself)

So, Opera only at home, because I can't get it to work with our corporate Proxy.

    At work:
    • IE6, IE8 and IE9 for stuff that relies on IE: Printer admin pages, MSAs, SAP web-frontends.
    • Normal Firefox with a shitton of plug-ins, so it stops losing my history every other day
    • Firefox ESR for the retards I have to support

    On Netbook and Laptop:
Firefox and Opera, Firefox for quick "Hello Internet" stuff,
Opera when I intend to "surf" for longer then 10 minutes.

Chrome --> I threat Chrome like a malware infection at work.
Unwanted Chrome installs can break peoples Outlook on uninstall,
which leads to more administrative work.
I had to forbid the download page in all corporate proxies and made GPOs that hinder the execution of Chrome and the google toolbar.
But some people still manage to end up with unwanted chrome on their desktops,
I guess those people are genuinely evil or just shit at Adobe downloads :pathetic:

Nothing against IE, Firefox and the rest. I just think they are shit and Opera should get way more attention, so it get's more MOOtants that make it more awesome.
(Corporate Proxy Bug in Opera is years old and still unfixed :( )

First off, why would anyone ever uninstall Chrome? Secondly, is this a fix?

That is a fix that but unfortunately only works on some machines, no idea why.

The best solution for normal PCs so far is installing firefox after removing Chrome and then deleting firefox (in case it's unwanted on that machine).

Running into an unauthorised install of Chrome on a terminal server is on a different page tough.

i can beat media player as far as embarrassing software goes. i use the microsoft zune software for organizing my media. its probably the worst software i've ever used and continue to used. super slow loading up. slow to respond even when it has been loaded already and gets re-engaged it still needs a few minutes to consider things (like snuffing it). i like it because as the lone adopter of zune hardware years ago, i organized all my photos, videos and music from the various corners of my hard drives through windows library and get to see them all nicely in zune. it also functions for playlists, and data disc burning. my windows 7.5 phone also automatically loads my pics and videos from my phone onto my desktop via zune wirelessly when i have it charging in the other room. in general whether it's the 360, or remote access the zune software works well with the microsoft ecosystem, but it is by far the weakest link in the setup. the fact it seems useful is probably a result of the way it's organized and not so much the zune software itself. as long as i have an actual functioning zune and until i upgrade to the lumia this summer (all praise be upon it) i will be using this shitstorm called zune.

i wouldn't really put iron and chromium in the same category. iron is a sham ripoff of chrome and chromium is simply chromium

I have 800+ tabs open across my desktop and laptop. I don't know how or why I got all these tabs, but I do; they've been building up over the course of the past 18 months. Every day I live in fear of Firefox not restoring my session and being forced to meticulously dig through over a year of history to recover every tab.

So much fear in fact that I run a weekly backup on my Firefox profile.

It's a terrifying thought to me.
