Alright people, it's time to move on to the next music genre which came from the great Africans (the great Jamaican Africans that is). Who or what are your favourite producers of ska and/or reggae, and post them in the thread. I know that there are a lot of brits on these forums so that = lots of people who listen to ska and stuff. Personally most of the contact of ska music for me are The Specials, and that's only because they had two songs in the film Snatch(which has an amazing soundtrack). I'm not really a fan of those ska / classic punk rock singing styles, so I enjoy far more instrumental music when it comes to reggae and ska.
Ska: The Specials (Two - tone) Madness (Rocksteady) Streetlight Manifesto (ska punk) Reggae: Stop listening to reggae, you fucking child.
Both of you listen to this: Madness - Embarrassment. Madness got lumped in with all the racist skinhead for no reason than rocksteady ska being a popular genre among skinheads. This song in particular is Suggs (the singer) Lee Thompson (the saxophone player) bitching about his families appalling reaction to his sister getting knocked up by a black guy. That's iirc, I'll google it. Edit: It was Lee Thompson, not Suggs. Also related: Any fans of the Police here? They're rapidly becoming one of my favourite bands, especially the album (and songs) Synchronicity. The Police - Walking On The Moon. Excuse the appallingly retarded video. The Police - Spirits In The Material World. Sting is awesome but there's no Reggae/Ska influence there.
Yeah I listen to Police but I'm not crazy over them. I also sometimes listen to the Clash but same thing not crazy. Ok so I found out that I don't really like 90% of ska, so maybe what I should've asked for is Dub or something similar. Alright so screw the ska and reggae, anyone know good Dub? All I have is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBNGt329auQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdVRBgStATw at hand but I really want some real dark sounding stuff.
i was quoting one step beyond i bet you masturbate furiously to "so lonely". and what do you mean theres no influence
