So there's this hack I'm playing, it's called Yet Another Fire Red Hack, it's basically a mod of pokemon fire red. I'm going to play Nuzlocke rules. That is: Catch the first pokemon per area. If a pokemon faints, it's dead. I'll post my progress as I go, I'll be naming pokemon after you guys as I play! I'll keep you all posted! (If you're pokemon dies it's dead forever, sorry, and no I won't name another pokemon after you) Content will be fast at first most likely and will slow down as the game progresses since I'll need to grind more (probably) All that said it's a hack so I have no idea what to expect, there's pokemon from all different gens I think but the game itself is still basically a remake of Red so anyone who's played the original pokemon games will enjoy. Wish me luck brothers, I'll be counting on you in battle.
After a brief check that my manhood was intact I elected boy. Sadly I only had room for this name, sorry trix. I set up my options, fast text speed (thank god) and SET battle mode, this means I can't switch when I faint an opponents pokemon, it makes the game a bit harder and a bit more fair for the AI. Best part of the hack so far, I get the running shoes immediately! No snail pace for me! I head down to oak's lab and one little snot is here (I mean our dear leader) he wants to choose first (like the dumbass he is, he doesn't know that choosing second is actually an advantage)
These were our options, it was a tough decision, Snivy is cool but has a lot of weaknesses, piplup is extremely good defensively lategame but I personally hate him. Finally, torchic is a good attacker all through the game, and fire types are often hard to find. And paradox gets honored for his first post, I thought it suitable since the torchic was a female (1 in 8 chance!) Paradox has a nice nature too, jolly gives our torchic a speed boost but lowers it's special attack (which is good, torchic is a physical attacker!) I'm now about to fight trixter. I'll report back once the dust settles.
We apparently had a secret berry, I didn't notice it before but yeah, that oran berry really made this first fight a onesided thing. Trixter was a bit butthurt but that's to be expected. ONWARDS TO VICTORY. (also that's awesome pred, I've already beaten B2 though )
obligatory. The first poke we meet, sadly we have no pokeballs, and this does count as the pokemon on route 1. So route 1 is a writeoff but who cares, sentret sucks anyway. COOKIN WITH FIRE FUCK YEA Why am I always the errand boy :[ Our first true encounter! Happiny evolves into chansey which evolves into blissey. These guys are the ULTIMATE tanks in pokemon, seriously they have so much defense. Dex page, note the stats. They correspond to: HP/Attack/Defence/Special Attack/Special Defense/Speed Note dat sweeeeet sweeet HP. And it's not even evolved! Without too much difficulty we subdue the little pink blob. Nicked her Blizzerd. Next stop viridan forest!
Are these sorts of mods meant to played on an emulator or something? Are they free? I've never really gotten into emulators and stuff, but I enjoyed Pokemon and similar games when I was young. I was a little iffy on the novelty of this naming scheme, but this is pretty funny.
The mod is a binary patch appleid to a rom which you thhen use on an emulator yeah. Quick google will tell you that
A quick grind to level 10 rewards us with peck! Awesome! WE MEET AGAIN Blizzerd comes in for the assist Close call but we pull through barely. That bubble was intense! North of viridian we find our next potential team member, a sentret. Easy catch, but like I said he's pretty shit. Maybe he'll prove himself later. Hustle confers a +30% damage bonus to physical moves, at the cost of 20% of your accuracy. Lets hope those numbers work in our favour. Over here is my lucky spot, I always seem to find a pikachu here most times I play red. Lets see how I go... Well it ain't a pikachu...
Easy catch. She's got an awesome ability too! Speed boost is great, at the end of each turn your speed goes up by 1 stage. For those of you unfamiliar, stat boosts in pokemon work like this. Each stat can be raised up to 6 stages or lowered up to 6 stages. +1 is a 50% bonus +2 is a 100% bonus +3 is a 150% bonus so in just one turn you're 50% faster, in 2 you're twice as fast and by that stage you should be the fastest mofo on the scene. Speed boost rocks. Predator joined our squad! filthy casual. You suck ass get out. More fucking casuals At least he had a venonat, that's kinda cool. Still died in one hit to ember. Hmm that's interesting... More fucking casu- Hello there... You know it. 10/10, best bug catcher ever. Seriously, he's the only one in this entire forest with a clue. Yanma is fucking awesome. We pull through and make it out the other side, to pewter city! Soon we'll see our good friend brock, after a wee bit of grinding of course. There's also a pokemon to catch on the next route.

Hopefully we don't get any more of these. Oh that's cool, I can go visit route 3 before I take on brock. That probably means he's got a decent team, so I'm gunna train up before I take him on. fuck yes. Now it's a combusken Paradox is a fire/fighting type. Brock won't know what hit him. That said I'm gunna keep grinding and get some of these other fellas up to snuff, probably predator most of all. Well this is our next recruit. One pokeball, barely worth the effort.
