If windows phone 8 had more apps, I'd definitely get the Lumia, but it's really going to suffer for being so limited there. It's a shame really, because Nokia deserve better, their phones are, and always have been fucking awesome.
I was speaking to Beerdude earlier, asking him exactly what non-included non-game apps he uses regularly. He said mainly Steam/dropbox. There's already an unofficial dropbox app for WP8, and you can use the web interface, so it's really a case of whether they make a Steam version for Windows 8.
If Windows Phone wasn't a complete shitstorm, I'd definitely get a Lumia. But after MS fucked over WP7 users, I'm just waiting for WP8 users to get the shaft when the next gen of Windows RT replaced Windows Phone entirely. Nokia can make a good phone, but I'm tired of Windows Phone limping along. MS is just using it as a crutch until Windows can scale down to the phone level. Three years, tops. MS wants to own a slice of the phone market. That's not the same as wanting WP8 to succeed.
No steam. My only gripe really. Marketplace is sufficient other than that. integegration with Xbox, hotmail, skydrive, windows and word make up for my lack of apps.
Steam is actually quite useless for smartphones since it doesn't do much. (Other than being able to harass your friends while you are taking a shit.) Dropbox, however, is excellent. It can automatically upload pictures you snap. Dropbox gives you 500 MB when you upload your first picture too. :p
Seems like there is a shitstorm about the black iPhone 5 inbound. Almost ALL devices have problems with the anodized aluminum chiping of... Better sell your apple stocks RIGHT NOW.
So I can shit on you guys while literally taking a shit? Sounds good to me. A sample list of the items that the latest iPhone still doesn't have yet. https://www.nbcnews.com/technology/gadgetbox/10-ways-android-beats-iphone-5-1B5919523
iPhpne nubs can't even put linux on it. My G2 iPod was my best pen testing friend. Noboby suspects the iPod. Edit: can't even not put any OS other than IOS on it. Edit: thats my thing now
Android isn't that closed but Android market barely exists or is fragmented. Android also uses Java which I hate more than Objective-C that I can work around (Xamarin). Tbh why would anyone want to have a phone other to program for it?
Buying phone for good camera is retarded, the smallest thing that has "nice" camera is DSLR. Megapixels tell you that you have dense CCD is but they don't say anything about sensor size: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_sensor_format
Apple is a disease, patents are a disease too. American courts having too much power are huge disease. The conclusion is simple, don't buy American, don't buy from Apple. Unless you want software/hardware patents control even more where the jury will be half-retarded Americans deciding in jurisdiction close to Apple HQ.
Sometimes MOOtant. Sometimes. I don't want to carry around a camera though, that's the whole point. MP isn't everything but it can be a good substitute for a lack of optical zoom.
Do you even need an iPhone to make Apps for it? Isn't the emulator enough? Is iOS still the more promising platform if you want to cash in on App development?
IPhone is annoying, requiring Macs and all of that. Android uses Java and its native DK is quite a bit of hassle to work with. They're both overhyped, there's a lot more money to make elsewhere. IPhone store though good for Apple is a suicide for app developers. It doesn't let you use the most natural strategy of avoiding competition - choosing a niche. Writing apps for ARM-A phones is interesting. Earning money by doing that is quite annoying it also requires quite a bit more capital than people think.
