Introducing a third team to TF2, and gamemode, supposedly over 2 years. Have fun reading, it's all very interesting... Just a note, you are required to kind of compile all the information from various sources here to make sense of it all... http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/08/13/t...-massive-tank-tease-new-faction-and-mvm-mode/ http://kotaku.com/5933981/team-fortress-2s-gray-mann-surfaces-as-signs-point-to-all+robot-faction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzxpbUeN-eg http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/xzqh3/everything_we_know_about_man_versus_machine_and/ http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/y2o54/heres_a_summary_of_what_is_happening_about_the/
6 player coop asdfasdfasdf as TF2 characters! And killing robots instead of hoomans so kids don't have nightmares! If it comes out Wednesday we all got to play.
Lol, well it was worth posting it yesterday, but considering the reveal was today, that's basically how it came across. Would love to hop in and play it with whoevers about
a 6 man MVM server will have comparable load to a 12v12 server. That means the machines create as much shiny as 18 players. That's a lot of shiny.
Wow, I might actually enjoy playing TF2 now. Looks like killing floor only with TF2 style responsiveness and cool bits.
The canteens (http://www.teamfortress.com/mvm/mercs/) is a lot like Dota 2's bottle system with runes, I like.
Almost looks like that they are actually competing with DotA2 (or at least copied a couple of features). Probably because DotA2 has adapted to TF2-hats economics in beta already.
Day 3 is out, but no update. http://www.teamfortress.com/mvm/bounty/ But that's basically just achievements. The real stuff is here: http://www.teamfortress.com/mvm/faq/ You can play individual maps (missions) just like normal and everything is as expected. OR you can buy a $.99 ticket (think keys) and play through an entire "tour of duty" (string of 'missions') and get a special hat/misc drop when you beat it. If you don't beat it, you lose nothing. You are guaranteed a special drop for each ticket bought (assuming you eventually win). The thing is that people are bitching that it's not fair that they have to pay for special item drops. But how are tickets and tours of duty different from keys and crates?! EDIT Oh fuck, it's live. EDITx2 Oh and Valve is selling an Archimedes plush that includes an unlock code for an in-game (shoulder-mounted?) Archimedes! Only $25, lol. http://store.valvesoftware.com/product.php?i=S0240
Apparently, there are less than 1000 "Free-to-Play" servers for this TF2 MvM shit. The waiting is ridiculously long. It's essentially "Pay-To-Play" to the most extreme if you have to pay $1 just to play a single round in a "premium" server (fuck the items).
I just read the FAQ, it says: "Tour of Duty Tickets and Squad Surplus Vouchers are ONLY consumed upon successful completion of a Mission. If you do not beat the Mission for any reason, then your Tickets and Vouchers will not be consumed and can be used again later." So yeah, a single Mission in a Tour does cost $1, but you can retry as many times as you need.
http://www.l4d.com/blog/ copy-paste link shown in blog post and put in browser bar look at what the person is playing MOTHERFUCKER
Oh my fucking god. Lol, it's just a joke. It's http://sybolt.com/mvm//mvm , not a steam site. However, I noticed the guy lives in Columbus, OH. Then I checked his LinkedIn page and it seems like he goes to OSU (or at least works there). I go to OSU. I shall find this man. I've been playing all morning on Fug (my community) servers. Haven't paid a dime.
