The texture glitches shouldn't appear to any player not in spectators. The only way I can optimize a map with this much stuff in it is to hide everything a player can't see, so it does look funny from a spectator view.

I was a player. I'm talking about sides that switch between 2 textures, slighty off-aligned doors, etc.

Oh my! I figured that I would have some texture alignment issues but not enough to get told there was a lot of them. I'll clean everyone up if I get told what ones they are.

Besides that, this needs more games on it.

Cyber-Kun, I have just both specced and played this map, and literally nothing is fixed gameplaywise, it's still a gigantic clusterfuck stalemate. I don't know what you seem to think you've done, but you have a warped sense of gameplay if you think adding a few extra access routes in the middle will fix it. It's just a boring linear clusterfuck, and nothing in comparison with the old version.

I know at least the game you specc'ed was screwed due to the teams being stupid. I would argue that the fact that NF did push into the BE side repeatedly would show that the stalemate is over, but they did not have the skill to hold it in any way. Also when the hell did you play anyways? I saw you sitting in spec entire game whining at start but I did not see you play at all.

I played for like 3 minutes, got killed by the same 2 medium tanks about 5 times, ragequitted back to spec. I did change my name part way through the game to something else though, although I forget what now. But it ended in a boring stalemate, which is so typical of linear maps. I love district because I like to be a fag, but it's the same problem there. It's more of a relief you win, rather than fun. It's just a constant grind and there's no real strategy except possibly sneaking through another area. At least in RC9, you could choose which side to push, force the enemy to reconsider where they should be deployed. But everyone is just deployed in the same position in linear maps, and it's simply not fun.

Why all the hate? Shadows is a good map. it's got great visuals and balls to the wall combat in the middle and more rush oriented frantic fighting on either side of middle. I'd gladly play shadows instead of urbanchaos or district, as they all essentially offer the same thing, and shadows does it best.

The res rate needs to be reduced by a lot though, tanks need to be special, and not spammable like they are currently.

Trickster, boring linear clusterfucks is as core to the game as commanders ( :P ), where have you been? Dude, you cant kill two mediums with access to your own mediums/skill?

I only played the new version once, and we were clusterfucked for a few minutes, but we broke through, and shortly after, ended the map. That seems functional to me. That's how all of empires other flag push maps work, middle is a shitshow, and once you're past it you win.

Once you are past middle, holding the next flags gets trickier, because there are enough side paths to at the very least force a two front battle, if one team doesn't completely blitz the flag first, that is.

The difference is that those other maps (urban and district) you grind for an hour... on shadows the grind is shorter and more enjoyable.

Empires is generally getting really silly imo, noobs dont know wtf is going on, and vets hate everything.

RC9 was a fantastic map. One of my favourite maps. Imagine shadows currently, only instead of being linear, it was a loop, a big circle. It was just so much more fun.

I remember it well, and I agree it was fun

I'd like to see that one as a comm map though, someone needs to direct the action in the loop, or it just gets silly disorganized.

rc9 might actually benefit from empires 64 player trend...

that said, this version isnt that bad is it?

i mean come on ppl play nfescort ffs

    RC9 was linear. RC8 was a loop.

You sure? I was so sure RC9 was the last looped version. If so, RC8 is the good version then.

EDIT: Ok, checked what you linked me to, I'm an idiot. RC8 it is.

I find the shitstorm is mostly between middle and NF's first flag from middle. The height disadvantage at the middle flag makes it too difficult for NF to pressure BE off of the middle flag, and the long path to the NF flag makes it too difficult for BE to capture.

Moreover, there's a lot of flat, open ground for the tanks that leaves the infantry stuck on poorly-protected sidewalks. It's more like slaughtered than district, but without the bridge or the ability to build defenses.

    No, they don't.

nfescort took a while to get into as the first flag was a bit of a mess.

    nfescort made no fucking sense.
Too much vertical movement in a game without jetpacks.

shadows is all right but it's a huge spam fest but it's awesome to do meele+defusal shit with because of all the corridors that like 20 people camp in at once with mines all around them expecting that the mines will protect them.
