Because I adamantly refuse to buy videogames (Except HL2), these are some free ones that keep me busy. http://www.dungeoncrawl.org/ What's that? You don't know what ASCII graphics are? Hell, this shit came around right after Pong. You know you want some of it! http://wesnoth.org/ It's deep shit, like chess, only with elves and fairies and crap like that. The best NRTAAS game I can think of. (Not real time at all strategy.) http://agtp.romhack.net/doukutsu.html An awesome sidescroller shooter with killer rabbits. KILLER RABBITS, man! That, and the old Marathon games from Bungie. You can really tell where they got the ideas for Halo in those. But I don't know where to find those now. www.vimm.net had just about every snes romm you could want, but i don't know if that site was virus-free or if it's still even up. The same goes for the emulators, at www.zophar.net. Anyone else got free timewasters that dont cost anything? Seeing as NO ONE plays empires, anymore.
Wait, is it free again? Quite a few years ago when I was still in High School I got in on it, but they went pay-to-play pretty damn soon after I started.
*Ancient Domains of Mystery is probably the best Rogue clone I've ever played. Just found this, it's ADOM movie. :D *PlaneShift one of the truly free MMORPGs I've ever found. Under constant developement due to it's GPL status in terms of code. A word of warning though, it's more biased towards roleplaying than killing everything. And your character name will be changed if it has numbers or other l337ness in it. *Savage a great RTS/FPS hybrid. *Spring free RTS(edited so Angry doesn't get any more angry). *Nexuiz a free multiplayer FPS running on heavily modified Quake engine. Uses Quake 3 maps and it's own model format. Supports HDR, Bloom, Parallax mapping, etc. I'll add some more stuff here once I have the time.
Only free games I know: gunz: http://www.gunzonline.com/ Warrock: http://www.warrock.net/ Gunbound: http://www.gunbound.com/ soldat: http://www.soldat.pl/
Black Shades It a single player FPS where you have protect a VIP from assassins & zombies. It's simple great quick fun. Narbacular Drop The reason we have Portal (or will have)
What do you mean spring is kinda free? It's completely free, yes parts of it are under copyright, and yes I own the TA commanders pack. But whos gonna stop a person who doesn't have it? No-one ,as long as you don't advertise that you don't own the origional no ones gonna stop you from playing such a great RTS. Or should I say a remake of the greatest RTS ever.
www.sgalaxy.com - Shattered Galaxy. Kind of an RTS with RPG elements. It's pretty addicting, and it's simplicity is relieving sometimes.
America's Army has already been mentioned, so; http://www.quantumlegacy.com/ http://www.neveron.com/ http://www.wulfram.com/ Each are rather old (Excluding QL), but decent depending on your taste. I don't play any of them nowadays, but I listed them for nostalgic reasons.
Well, my Gunz launcher was torrenting the files pretty fast until it just stopped at 94.03%, so I played savage for a while. It's an ok game. Maybe it's not so exciting because I don't understand everything, or because it's just too repetative. The Gunz launcher is still frozen at 94, so I guess I'll go shop for some knives. I really wanted an HK, but at a 150-200 dollar price tag, I'll probably go with the 30 dollar Smith&Wesson. Edit: Ok, I've tried Gunz again, and it was going really fast, and then it just stopped dead at 94.08%. I think I am about to give up, unless I am persuaded that this game is really worth trying to install many times. Why couldn't they make a normal installer? I wanna play an rpg-like game, but nothings working out.
It's a lot like the specialists mod for HL1 but you gain exp through killing and eventually level up. The money you earn from killing can be spent on equipment such as weapons or clothes (better armour) etc.
