2.27 released

    It is called that because clients need it to connect to 2.27 servers. 2.27 works as a patch over 2.25. You can install it over 2.25 or 2.25b or 2.26 if you want.

    Empires 2.27 Changes

    Added:
    + Lua chat hooks.
    + Lua traces and player messages.
    + Commander can promote any member of squad to leader.

    Removed:
    + Research initialization.

    Modified:
    + Lowered latency effect on semiautomatic weapons.
    + Changed Ranged Cannon cycle time to 1.5 s from 2.0 s.

    Fixed:
    + Scout not being hidden on minimap.
    + Team with no barracks was bleeding past last ticket end losing.
    + Spawn protection enabled outside of barracks. Minimum time set to 1 s.
    + Wages being visible to enemy.
    + emp_canyon and emp_crossroads.
    + slua_file not working on dedicated servers.

    I really wish we could change new system that shows players into something where only one type of building reveals players in its proximity. Already seen it suggested and that's radar towers for infantry. Make them cheap and low health. Only when the team builds them can they spot enemies. It's impossible to battle near bases without everyone knowing where you are.

    Installer is being reuploaded, I missed research_items.txt after I committed it to SVN.

    why 2.27? looks like a bugfix release to me.

    Like I said, 2.27 means it's a bugfix that client has to download. If it were 2.26a it'd mean it's server only.

    so when do you plan on updating front page?

    also is the bug where buildings are killed insanely fast fixed?

    So no changes to the minimap and the automatical spotting?

    Can you please explain this:
    + Lua chat hooks.
    + Lua traces and player messages.

    There are now lua hooks for when people chat and when players do certain actions, as well as hitscans (I think) and a fix for the 50cal/pistol rate of fire getting raped by ping.

    so like you can set up events to happen when ppl type certain words?

    When is the scout invisible in the minimap? only with invisibility skill active?

    It's just a bugfix. Like MOOtant said, it's only 2.27 so that people have to use it to connect to the servers. The next release is a bigger one, this is more of a hotfix, but called 2.27 just to force people to update.

    Well the point is, if they don't update and the server version is 2.26(a) and they have 2.26(normal), they won't see why they can't connect. At least if it reads 2.27, they know there's a new version.

    That was one of the few things I tested before it was released, could you file a bug report on the bug tracker (www.empiresmod.com/bug_tracker/)?
