I'm personally not a fan of the removal of targets. I don't mind them requiring you to have a listening post in the area, so you can give targets within a radius of that, but the entire removal is a bit stupid. There's a lot of bugs in it atm, so keep reporting. use www.empiresmod.com/bug_tracker if you can, it's appreciated.

We will see after some rounds how it will be without commander targets. There are still cameras.

And wouldn't 2.26 also be a chance to have an official map pack?
(with download link next to the game link)
Just take all the maps from Viper and Main.

With every new release many new players will join and losing them because they don't want to download a map at nearly every round is sad.

Woah, sorry about that...ah well, I got the error statement up there now anyway.

Sorta hints at more depth than we've seen in Empires - the Titanium part, I mean.

Nah, it's just the armor the CV uses.

Once release is out, I'll make one. It's just that every time I make one, it gets outdated within 10 minutes, which upsets me. So I want to make sure that any maps going into 2.26 that are updated, are in. Then I'll do it. But I've been putting it off for like a year.

It should be available at the same time as the release so that people can download both.
And for the outdated problem you can make update packages every month.

But most important is that it will be an official packet with a download link next to the game download link.

It's a fucking pain to do them. No joke, it's a nightmare. I don't want to do it any more than a couple of times a year.

What do you do now as a comm if you can't give targets? Can you at least give single targets?

No. You use mic or give ground targets, place buildings, do research, customize vehicles, build vehicles and more.

Do you or someone else has all custom maps from Viper and Main in separate zip-archives?
There should be an official place like ftp.maps.empiresmod.com for these files. Mappers can upload new maps with login/pass and everybody else can download them.
Generating a new map package could then be done by a simple script.

To sad that this wasn't implemented yet. (Commander messages)
    http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=12824

Commander without mic will have a even harder job.

Since people are complaining about infinite rails how bout, keeping the reload function but also still have infinite ammo. Like BF1943 you have infinite ammo on all weapons but you still need to cycle thru clips and basically recharge or wait a certain amount of time to use them again.

i cant wait for people to rage at the comm for not giving targets even when you tell them there are no targets anymore. and while i haven't tested this myself, the way it is described in the OP the targets would function something like UAV's in modern warfare 2 or battlefield 2 though i could be wrong on that.

My understanding of that point in the change-log is that the number of clips carried by vehicles is now infinite, but you still need to reload. It seems a lot of people interpreted that as unlimited ammo within a clip. Essentially infinite reload.
