The system seems good to me, and Toshiba is always a plus, but I'd like some other opinions on this. I may not buy it regardless because after buying my current PoS HP I am exceptionally picky about build quality. Discuss.
Not enough battery time for me. Also resolution to small for that screen size. Performance seems solid. Dunno.
"Graphics Chipset ATI Radeon HD 4250" What do you want to do with this notebook? For gaming it should be at least a Mobility Radeon HD 5650.
i have a 15" widescreen laptop with 1280x800 screen resolution its fine so i guess a bit more on a 15,6" will be fine too
get the newest panasonic toughbook or something best "on the go" laptops you can get with awesome battery life (up to 18 hours batteries can be bought)
If your not going to game get one with linux then, since you pay less, and linux is relatively fast (and comes with essential drivers already) and it has a better File system as opposed to FAT32 or NTFS (gets less fragmented).
btw just came out of my feedreader: http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/02/engadgets-back-to-school-guide-netbooks-and-laptops/
Slow hard drive...pay a little more and end up with a SSD, that'll help load times AND battery life all at the same time. Look at Lenovo's compact designs, IMO. I avoid netbooks at all costs right now...until ION2 is out, I don't care.
Too late, I bought it. I don't have a lot of money. My main appeal to this was the $120 CAD savings and the specs for that price. I can hardly afford it even after having bought it D=
While thay may be true, I still advocate that you get what you pay for. You want cheap, you get cheap....
Engaged = apple fanboys I study design, means I am surounded by dozens of macs and macbooks all the time. Mac book pros get horrible hot and loud, oh and are totaly overprized.
yeah look at that it was $1800 on that list, and my computer here cost me about $800 CAD, I had to separately buy windows xp (which was $99 at the time) so it ended up being about $900. This computer can do WAY more than a macbook, it had probably the same specs, even if macbooks do far less. Peeps should just get linux on their computer, if they want Mac, it's basically Mac OS X except it's free, and there are a million programs that are free (like audacity for example) and you can get them all with a package manager if you're too nooby to use the cmd line package thing. It's funny as how the worlds most infamous PC operating system (BSD) spawned Mac OS X.
But the number is so high that it makes no difference. I mean, I build code daily that writes thousands of files and I could get away with an SSD that'd last 4 years at least...which is probably longer than a regular consumer quality hard drive with platters would last. You just need the TRIM command supported. Also: Doesn't take much to beat a macbook. Dunno why people love them...oh, wait. It's from apple.
