http://forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=20644#p2104087 So yeah, that awesome space combat mod is looking for coders.
At 2.3 it was fun...then they changed the game to much too linear - where you had to do the bombing runs and disable the shields etc etc. BORING. Was fun when you could just jump in a ship, fly over, and board the enemy ship, taking over their systems. Then some other guys would meet up with you (randomly, or spawned after you cap'd) and you'd get some really cool spontaneous teamwork going on. I haven't played ES for ages...that linear stuff is just...why?
I did once. But only when I used HLSS to play "Highway to the Dangerzone". The one and only epic game.
Yea the mod isn't fun because all the rounds are the exact same. 1) spawn 2) get ship 3) destroy corvettes 4) get on enemy command ship 5) get subsystems 6) repeat steps 1-5 until you log off.
They need mappers, not coders. The gameplay is good, but there are only so many times you can play the same 3 maps.
It's space combat, what do you want. Every map is going to be basically the same. Because SPACE IS THE SAME ITS EMPTY OH GOD
freelancer always had varying space regions sure they made unrealistic usage of nebula's and what not to colour it (nebulas are only coloured to us because they are so large and so far away, if you would be inside one, you would not notice the colour at all) thing is its a game and they made it well, and fun to play
