Right now, because tank barrels can stick into things, and because the projectile spawn point is at the end of barrels that hang-over the end of the vehicle, there are a number for exploits one can perform.

    1. Stick your cannon barrel inside the model of your opponent to hit a different armor side, or keep from taking splash damage.
    2. stick your cannon through a building's wall to get at the gushies inside.
    3. hide behind an engi wall, stick your cannon through the wall to shoot at things on the other side remaining safe from pesky damage.
I don't expect to see a solid fix for this, but it would be nice to shorten barrels, of move the projectile spawn farther back in the barrels or some such thing so it is atleast harder to exploit.

A BE Heavy can stick his whole double barrels of goodness straight through any wall in the game if the tank is parallel to the wall.

Clearly, this is just a feature of quantum mechanics in action.

Have you actually tried any of these exploits?
Cannons can't fire if they're sticking through a wall.

statistically, once or twice in the timespan of the universe, an object the density of a baseball will fall completely through another object. What are the odds that this should happen EVERY time a tank shoots next to a wall?

I've done all of these, which is why I've listed them. make your self a listening server and test them out, if you don't believe me.

I have never ever seen or done any of these things, and I've tried it with a BE med many times.

I can confirm 2 of these.

Never fired through a wall, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could.

Anyway, I use this to fire on the opposite sides of tanks facing me quite often.

I've done all 3 of these (2 on the same map in fact). The BE heavy seems to have the easiest time defying the laws of physics, though I've gotten a NF light to fire through engineer walls before. I'm all for moving the shell spawn back some.

Make the turret a physics object and make it super-weak so that it can't move through stuff or hit other tanks with that type of force.

    Broken tank turrets?

Bent so it fires off target, broken so it has less range, or crushed so it explodes!
