It's just for the thing, if the game is loaded through My Games only then should it be played, but if somethin' like Console was brought up it would pause, and if it was loading then it would change screen to the current empty one.
You have no idea how that stuff works. A moving background is a scripted map file. They are only a good idea when you can fill them with textures and models that are relevant to the map about to be played. It works in HL2 and the episodes because as you progress the singleplayer it changes, its always relevant to the current level, which means its loading resources that will be used if you continue from the last save. It is NOT pre-recorded. And making it pre-recorded would be even worse because then your loading something that doesn't help make maps load faster. That is the core purpose of the dynamic background maps. It loads usable resources which reduces map loading times and makes the menu look awesome. In Empires due to the diversity of the map contents, it will only help a few maps load faster.
Just saying that the "dynamic background" won't load up if you have set -console in the startup settings. Then the game just loads a static background picture.
I think it works like that with HL2, HL2:E1 and HL2:E2 because I have tested it and I have confirmed it.
Well, theres still the issue that basic players won't know how to do that. Unless you can make a really inventive map sequence that utilizes a ton of the stock materials, its really a bad idea.
just having the NF and BE Models preloaded would help loading maps anyways... besides the dynamic map thing could be turned off in the options menu.
I just installed this and it works great. The loading screen for maps is still blue as I don't use the bin file as said and put the newer .res file from page 6. This should be by default installed with Empires for the next version. The commander HUD increases gameplay, aesthetic value, and will make sure everyone is on the same level and not cheating.
I updated the VGUI for the people that have set the Texture quality on Low. There is no new design. Just removed mipmap from some the Engineer build menu (it was an accident). I also removed the bin folder since there is no longer needed, all the code has been implemented in the official Empires dlls. http://raegquit.com/NESQUIKO/web/ Does anyone like this? http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/347023/behq0014.jpg
I would make the transition from white to black more subtle, maybe even just fade from transparent to black.
do you get any error message or hl2.exe just crashes? post the minidump. Did you follow the instructions?
Yeah I followed instructions exactly; tried reinstalling it again by extracting the files then manually moving them over too. And the crash is hl2.exe crashing. Here's mdmp: http://uploading.com/files/fcbc86f/Steam__3791__2009_9_5T18_4_42C0.mdmp/ I reverted to my backups and everything worked fine again.
I can't download it "Requested file not found We are sorry, but due to abuse or through deletion by it's owner, this file was removed"
Ok, I will handle it to a dev so he can take a look. Are you sure you didn't delete something? You just need to overwrite, don't delete any file or folder.
