So after playing Dwarf Fortress recently, and my girlfriend playing the old school Zeus:Master of Olympus, we're on a hunt for a multiplayer lan city/civ/empire building game. Anyone have any ideas? I'm getting the settlers 4 right now, so we'll see how good that is.
Get stronghold crusader. I picked it up recently on gog.com for $10. Probably the best game i've bought in the last 3 months. It has a good mix of building, management, and warfare. Plus, it is very historically accurate ( ie you can catapult cows into the other castle to spread sickness). I loved learning about castles when i was young, so this game is incredibly amazing for me. Don't get any of the other Stronghold games, though. Crusader is best.
HAHA... Minecraft. Yeah we have been playing that for a while before. Fun as hell. So I found Anno 1701 (Anno 1404 isn't multiplayer), and it is extremely addicting. Stayed up for hours with my girlfriend playing it. If you try it, you'll find yourself staying up till around 5 in the morning >.<. Everything else I'll be sure to check out, thanks for the suggestions guys!
Alpha Centauri, with or without the AC: Alien Crossfire expansion. Kinda slowpaced turn-based. Find it on Home of the Underdogs (an abandonware site), fo free.
actually quite fun over LAN. later turns gets tedious. An awesome board game of awesome. Dunno what Settlers 4 is though, they make a video game based on it?
I love Civ's, but its so bloody slow. Anno is great because its the same awesome civ building but real time.
