So basically the tunnels are one large tunnel with support collums in the center? That makes more sense than two seperate tunnels.

When is the map coming out? 1st January 2183? I am sure Duke Nukem will be out before this map will be done >_>

Yes, if by that you mean support columns that occupy about 70% of the central space.

It's more like you have two tunnels with a long divider between them, then you have a junction area, which has no central divider.

They are about half-way between two separate tunnels and one tunnel with supports, I would just show you a picture but I haven't got an empires setup on this PC so I need to make one before I can run the map again, and I was going to wait for episode 2 empires to do that.

Hang on I'll make a mockup in paint to show you.

I dont dislike your map, I jsut think the other one was evne better(the snow one).
Altough I still think this new map will have less lag then the previous one.

And yes, this is going to be the first good map. The other maps are plain and boring. This map got variation.

People seem to forget you can't tell how good gameplay is till you play the map.

What other one? This is the only map I've released here, and it is composed entirely of snow and ice.

Maps like canyon, duststorm or mvalley are so plain and empty for a reason.

He's right, plain and empty do work very well in empires, and that's why I haven't put too much detail in.

Realistically speaking this map will hopefully play a lot like maybe slaughtered or mvalley, it's about as complex as those, and then at the same time you should get an escort/crossroads style infantry battle going on, as in there are areas for infantry which overlap with the tank areas a bit, except this has the infantry areas really separate in places, and more routes for infantry which keep them safe from tanks.

The tank area has two main routes, and the infantry area is sort of tertiary, there's no reason you'd use it as a route across the map unless you really wanted to flank, the reason it's there is so the infantry can have tank support which can help with one of the points in the city, but it's best if you think of the city as being its own area, which it is actually, because I sealed it off into its own box, so the comm woud need to click inside it to get into it, but that's ok because it's also a no build zone so there's nothing for the comm to do, and arty can't hit anything in there anyway.

Basically there's the ice fields and the bridge as the two main routes, along these routes there are little open spaces big enough for a base (a bit like slaughtered) and also a lot of little infantry routes which give infantry an advantage of accessibility over the tanks.

The game can be played by never going into the city, but the trouble is that both sides need to agree to do that because otherwise one side is going to have a major resource advantage, and you need to contest that.

Plain and Empty work well for commander maps. But they are deffinetly not as fun as maps with variation.

That would seem to be a direct contradiction.

If plain and empty work well, how can complex and elaborate be more fun?

    Ill explain:

A is alright. Plain & Empty
B is better. Diversity & Variation

If something works well it doesnt mean its the best.

Maps should have variation, open area at the base start for the commander. City for rifleman to fight in, buildings that can be build by engineers. Tunnels for scouts. Open areas for tank battles. Some baricades that need to be destroyed before you can continue your advance to the enemy base. And defensive locations for grenadiers.

This map offers all of that. Maps like Canyon, Dune, Duststorm, Valley. They are "alright" maps, but definetly not the best.

A map should make not make anything obsolete.

Actually no it doesn't, it's just a normal classic map with an infantry component.

It's comparable to crossroads with flags, if I made it as complex as you suggested it'd be exactly that, too complex.

Sure, you seriously think that your map is just like Canyons or Valley?

    ...sure...

Not exactly like them but I would hope that it would play somewhat like them.

Although it does intrigue me that you think you know more about the map than I do, when a few posts ago you were telling me that I was making a different map altogether.

People dont go somewhere if it isnt needed, or its to complicated to hold that
possition. People will always use the simplest way to acomplish victory.
If you dont need to go to that rifleman invested tunnel part nobody with a brain
will do it. Ruins on duststorm is the best example for it, its very hard to hold
so its tactical less worth than north west even if it gives you double the recources.

Tanks have problems on hilly terrian and you need alot of free plain space to
give commanders the possibility to place buildings everywhere so you dont
see the same strategy every game.

Everything you post sounds like you have not really knowledge about empires mapping.

I think this following image relates how I feel about Satanchild's posts in this topic...

    Don't be such a dick.

I'll get you tester status if you finish my damn Reloadable Rocket Launcher turret. The MG is still awesome by the way.

I also noticed that the pilotable MG turret you made for me (Akin to your desert fortress map), moves but doesn't fire, forgot to send you a PM on that.
