I do have it, haven't really played it though, tried it with a controller for half an hour, didn't support the second analog stick :(

Then i shall share my opinion on x3: Reunion.
X3 Reunion was a massive and incredibly beautiful game, although its 'massiveness' made it slow, very slow.
Although i gotta admit it was awesome to approach a small dot a few miles away, only to watch it grow and those itty-bitty docking holes becoming massive.

ive seen reunion for as much as 5€ on amazon. if you are concerned about hardware - it worked on an amd64 3200 with 1gb ddr1 400 and a gf4200 with 64mb ram, i had around 20 fps everywhere but it felt like 40 for some weird reason. it was perfectly smooth with a gf6600 with 128mb ram (except for sector wide capital ship battles to which 90% of people will never get).

on a side note: x3 reunion was the one and only game i bought on the release day for the full friggin 60€, and hell, it was worth every cent. if not for the fact that i barely got cash for food wouldve done the same with tc.

its a mix really, it has a very advanced 4x economy, but you can perfectly play it as if it was freelancer

i like to describe it as following:

you start with a smaaaaal ship, m5.

kill stuff, trade for moneyz, capture new ships (up to the m3 fighter class) enjoy the fantastic view with the fantastic soundtrack(that is if you havent played x2).

you get your 150k+ of profit and buy your first station which is biiiiiiiiiiiiiig, like 500 of your starting ships or so, you fill it up with resources and wait for the products, sell em, get moar moneyz/stations into a complex, get your first m6(size around 50 m5's) with 10 000 000 credits.

moar stations...............moar stations, more, more, mooooooooore.

at some point you buy a transporter for 30 000 000 atleast, 36 with equipment, that thing is capable of transporting stations for you and so you get to colonize undiscovered sectors or maybe even some pirate sectors, with setting up patrols and turrents.

after another 100 hours you finally get to buy m1/m2 carrier/destroyer class ships which are capable of housing 200 m3 ships / equipping slow moving projectile weaponry that destroyes m3's in 1 or 2 shots, also those things have shields which only can only be penetrated by other capital ships.

and then you set sail to capture/annihilate entire fucking sectors or even species which i enjoyed very much.

though unless you are a hardcore nerd without a life it will be almost impossible to get to capital ships.

well either that or you just cant understand the interface and say "fuck it" right away.

The thing that annoys me is pirates always seem to chase me randomly, and I end up losing half my hull which costs millions to repair.

why don't you stay on the normal trade lines? they are pretty safe yet a little longer traveling

Never really managed to get as far as to set up advanced trade routes, but it shouldn't take too long to get enough money to get capital ships going. Work your way up by getting universal traders that are decently outfitted and maybe have an escort or two and money will then start to roll in by itself. Only then do you actually start placing stations here and there in order to further increase profits.

I can never find anything decent to trade without going backwards and forwards mindlessly.

don't just mindlessly visit every station, observe what the npc's are trading, a big caravan of energy cells for example going in the system and not out means that SOMETHING needs it, go look for where to sell and possibly even put up a energy cell factory in the area for easy money

the best trades are lasting trades, even though quick profits come from abusing shortages a lasting trade contract with another station keeps money coming as long as you tend some fine tuning once in a while

By the way, has anyone actually ever won the jackpot on the lottery tickets that you can purchase ever so often? I read somewhere that the odds were really microscopic but it was possible to win.

afaik its impossible, i think i saw a mod going around that made it possible though.

you have no friggin idea as to what you are talking about, do you?

1.5 mil per L silicium mine which produces about 1mil worth of silicium if sold to the highest bidder while only consuming energy cells.

around 2mil for a fully equipped uni trader......... but then that faggot ai harvests around 400k from a good couple of sectors and thats fucking it, you have to look for another playground for it.
now take the the darn time which it takes to levelup that shit and the chances of the trader having passive anal intercourse with pirates into consideration and maybe you will see why that overpriced bloatware is the pinnacle of fail.

    *shrugs*

Guess you play it wrong then. Have read from many other players that they don't have to wait forever to get serious cash rolling. Just cause you have a problem getting a business going doesn't mean that everyone does.

just because you have no fucking idea as to what you are talking about DOES mean you shouldnt talk about it. ive spent > 500 hours on x3, do you think its possible to miss the point of something that primitive?
